Light bleeding doctor won’t see me?

This may be triggering as a warning sorry.

Hi all I posted about spotting the other day I’m very early about 4 1/2 weeks.

Spoke to doc Monday she said defo early MC and to monitor. Yesterday spotting got a bit heavier, although had hardly anything this morning. When I have bled it doesn’t go on a pad but when I wipe it’s quite covered in fresh blood.

I tested this morn, I know with an MC it takes a few days for your HCG to drop but I had my darkest line this morn.

If it is an MC I want to deal with it emotionally but doc said they won’t see me as I’m too early, and there is nothing they can do and I have to wait another week to see if I still test positive.

My mum and MIL who we didn’t want to tell, we’ve obviously told because this has been so tough and both of them have said to just go to a and e incase there’s complications with my MC which is why my bleeding keeps stopping and isn’t heavy. My husband also is pushing for me to go but GP said they’ll just send me away?

Has anyone else experienced this? I just want confirmation it’s happening as I haven’t passed heavy blood or clots or had pain. Should I go a and e? I don’t want to waste their time 😭

Im so sorry hun, you’re in a very tough situation. The reason why your doctor won’t see you is because you’re very early in pregnancy and a scan won’t answer the questions you have right now. Unfortunately the earliest they can scan you is 6 weeks, to understand what’s going on. And it’s so frustrating, I know.

If you go to A&E, you’ll end up waiting forever only to be given the same answer and be sent away. So my advice is to wait a couple more weeks and see what happens...if it is a MC you’ll bleed more and then it’ll be obvious, but at that point you’ll be able to be scanned and have a definitive answer.

Sending love and strength ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀

Hi I'm really sorry that you're going through this. I had a missed miscarriage at my first pregnancy and it is heartbreaking.

At 4 1/2 weeks you might not really experience anything like big clots it might be just like having a heavy or long period. You won't normally need any medical intervention, unless your bleeding becomes very heavy and your going through several pads in a couple of hours or you have severe pain or fever. Otherwise it's all about self care, give yourself some time to heal and be kind to yourself.

When I had my missed miscarriage it was only picked up on my first scan and I was very upset at my body and mother nature, for what it felt like tricking me, so I had a bit of a blow out on all the things I couldn't do when I was pregnant, I had wine, brie, parma ham and paté. It was like me saying a little screw you mother nature! It helped me to get a bit of my anger out at the situation. I also spoke to my friends about it. It's amazing how many woman have gone through miscarriages and don't really talk about it. My husband also found several of his male friends and work colleagues had gone through it and they were really supportive of him too. There's lots of support out there so don't be worried about sharing your experience of it helps to talk about it xx

Hi,

So sorry to hear what you’re going through. I had a miscarriage at 6 weeks. For me it started with spotting and I phoned the EPU (early pregnancy unit) and they advised that if it turned into fresh blood that I go to straight to A&E. Unfortunately the spotting got heavier 2 days later and it did turn into fresh bleeding so we went to A&E. They said based on symptoms it was very likely a miscarriage (by this point it was heavy bleeding with clots and cramping so I knew) The A&E did a blood test to measure my HGC level. They referred me to the women’s unit and I went back 2 days later and got blood test back which showed HGC was much lower than it should be. They did another blood test that showed it had dropped to almost zero so I had probably passed everything by then.

Do you have an EPU in your area you can call? They can advise you better than your GP. If not, if you’re having fresh bleeding and cramping go to the A&E, they may not offer a scan as it’s so early (I was supposed to have a scan on day 2 but they said my HGC was so low that there wasn’t any point), but they can give you proper advice, listen to your symptoms and check your bloods.

Thank you for your reply, I’m so sorry to hear about your miscarriage :( it’s such an awful thing to go through.

So atm I’ve not had a heavy bleed but I’ve spotted for 8 days, which is a long time for a pregnancy. My GP called the EPU when I was there yesterday, they said it was too early to do anything. They told me as did the GP I’m most likely having a delayed MC, and I should start heavy bleeding soon, in which case go to a and e, however if nothing changes or the bleeding stops take a test when I’m 6 weeks (I’m nearly 5 now) and then they will have me in if it’s still positive for a scan and check up. The GP wanted to do bloods to test me Hcg but the EPU said they were so positive I was about the MC it would only cause me more stress waiting for bloods that confirmed it, and the heavy bleed would be better closure for me which I get.

So I’m just waiting for the inevitable now :(

I am so sorry you are going through this. I have had 3 miscarriages. With the first two the GP referred me to the EPU. I had a scan and blood tests for HCG. With my 3rd the GP told me to wait and I felt so frustrated because I just wanted an answer and I felt completely on my own. If the bleeding is light spotting everything could be ok. It could be implantation bleed. Some women have bleeding all through their pregnancy. One lady I know had heavy bleeding every month! I have also had 2 sons from pregnancies 3 and 5. And when I was having my youngest I had some spotting at 13 weeks. I had just had my dating scan a few days before. I was petrified and so sure given my history that I had lost my baby. I phoned my midwife but she refused to send me for a scan because apparently they wouldn't do one as I had had one recently. So at 14 weeks she listened to the heartbeat and all was well. I spotted for about 10 days and the limbo was hell! But baby was fine and now a crazy 2 year old! I have my fingers crossed for you and I hope everything is ok for you. Whatever the outcome be kind to yourself.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience, it makes so much of a difference hearing from people! We’ve only told my dad and my husbands mum, so I’ve not really had an opportunity to talk to people.

I’m so sorry to hear about your miscarriages! :( it’s reassuring to hear you had future successful pregnancies, not that it makes the miscarriages any easier to deal with! I’m literally in limbo as you say just waiting to see what happens. The GP wouldn’t even entertain that I could be ok, so I’m trying not to get my hopes up as I’d rather prepare for the worst, not that it makes it any easier. But it’s hard not to get my hopes up given I’ve not had a heavy bleed yet, so I’m always thinking ‘what if she’s wrong?’ But I’m not the expert!

Thank you for responding! That’s reassuring. The doctor was absolutely adamant I was about to MC. I’m now a day off 5 weeks and no sign of MC. My spotting stopped last Thursday also, it lasted 7 days in total and was mostly brown CM (sorry ew) then I had one day of fresh blood but it wasn’t a lot, but I did pass a very small clot which was what convinced the doc it was an MC. It then stopped so now I’m like...am I pregnant? Am I not? Should I have MC and my body hasn’t reacted and dealt with it?

I was just told to wait for the impending MC and it’s not come. I know there’s still time tbf so I’m not getting my hopes up. Doc did say at the end of the app ‘if no change call when your 6 weeks and we will investigate’ so I suppose I just wait until next week unless I MC before.

Sorry for all the graphics guys and discussing of MC. It’s so horrid. I feel for anyone whose been through it, I technically haven’t until it’s confirmed but I’ve gone through the emotion of thinking it with the doc being so certain.:(

I am in very early pregnancy too! Nausea is awful and going for a wee every two minutes just like my first pregnancy 3 years ago but I started bleeding yesterday :( just a small amount pink/brownish so i thought ok this is just implantation bleeding or spotting but today its like i am having a full blown heavy period. Trying to stay positive but its really hard and in my head i am thinking is this another MC

😪
