Bleeding/spotting

Sorry I’m advance for the essay.

I’m around nine weeks pregnant, and last night I was at a stage show with my sister. At the interval, we got up to head to the bathroom, and grab a drink a water. I stood up and felt a little leak and thought nothing of it because I’ve had quite a heavy discharge. I went to the toilet and there was blood all over my underwear. My instant reaction was panic. I called my sister into the cubicle with me and she helped me clean myself up and we just left the venue once I was cleaned. Headed up to out of hours in a panic but I already knew there’d be nothing they could do. The nurse had a chat with me and reassured me that it’s probably just spotting. I’ve had a miscarriage previously in 2016, so it was a huge fright. Since last night, there has been no blood on my underwear/pad but when I’m wiping, there’s little bits of blood on the tissue, and it looks pink. I called the maternity unit at my hospital this morning and they referred me to early pregnancy unit. I spoke to them and they’ve booked me in for a scan on Monday and I am petrified.

Has anyone been in the same or a similar situation to this?

All you can do is try and stay calm, if there are no cramps and bleeding has stopped then sounds really positive and it’s just been a worrying time. Worst thing is there is nothing you can do. Wishing you lots of luck xx

Thanks very much. Doing my best to stay calm. And I’m keeping my fingers crossed for Monday xx

I really hope you are fine. There are so many reasons for bleeding and in my experience if it’s not super heavy or really crampy all is fine 🤞🏻🤞🏻 xx

I had a similar experience at 6 8 and 12 weeks pregnant. Just bleeding the once then pink when i wiped for a day or so I was terrified waiting for my scans. They never found a reason for the bleeding, im now 32+5 . Good luck for Monday try not to worry to much over the weekend i know it's easier said than done

I had this at 6 weeks and 6+4 weeks. It was quite a lot of blood with clots and cramps. I was convinced it was a miscarriage as I had one previous too. Thankfully baby was absolutely fine but it was so terrifying. Why does this always seem to happen before a weekend too? Mine was a Friday and I had a long agonising wait til Monday morning xx

I had exactly this at nine weeks; scared the life out of me. Had a scan and all was fine. The sonographer said mine was likely related to the placenta kicking in and it’s fairly common for a bleed to happen at that point in the pregnancy. I’m now 17 weeks.

Hard as it is, try to stay calm and rest. Best of luck to you x

Hopefully it’s nothing it is a massive worry when you see blood when pregnant.

Hope your ok x

I think you will find from the comments and google search that it can go either way, sorry just saying as it is. I was previously in the same situation and also going through this again. With my previous pregnancy the bleeding follow up with proper bleeding (with passing blood clouts) 2days later and by the time of the scan they were able to confirm miscarriage, however this time even if I had quite a lot of bleeding the scan today confirmed baby is ok, of course we are not in clear yet as bleeding is not a good sign but also can be quite common. What I am trying to say even as impossible as this is try not to worry, as it can be nothing and everything will be ok, the fact that you are not bleeding more and with passing clouts is a really good sign if your are about 9 weeks you would definitely see pregnancy tissues if the worst were to happen. Good luck I hope you will and the baby will be absolutely fine!

I had a miscarriage last year In February I was 9wks, and became pregnant again in September last year. At around 7wks I had heavy spotting and cramps and took myself to A+E and they wernt too concerned as my blood pressure was normal and the bleeding had stopped but I had a lot of stringy bits when I wiped and I went for a scan 2 days later but they couldn't see anything not even a tiny dot so they asked me back a week later and there was a tiny sac so I had to go back another week later and they saw a tiny heartbeat. I'm now 27wks with a very healthy baby. So hopefully it was just a bit of spotting and it all goes well for you. Good luck x
