Sorry your upset I found having private scans reassuring we had one around 8 weeks 25 weeks and 32 he was allowed to my 20 week but we had to find out the sex together I didn't want to know but he did they said they can't divulge the info of the sex without me there .if I'd have done that private aswell I would have had my own way lol
I booked a private scan for 11 weeks when I found out I was pregnant, the idea was this way we’d both see baby for the first time together, this didn’t go to plan as I needed two EPU scans he couldn’t attend, but it was still really special for him seeing baby at 11 weeks with me x
Ahh i looked into this but the week I fall into 12 weeks is all booked up bar late afternoon and early evening slots where my husband works as he starts work at 3pm sadly! We will definitely be booking a 16 week scan there but even then it's booking up too!! Can see everyone wants their scans private now due to covid. xx
I asked to do face time instead which incredibly my practice also didn’t allow! Made no sense so I complained. I’d ask if they allow for face time at least. I also went to private scans which do allow partners in.
My husband came with but just waited in the car. I honestly felt horrible about it as it was so lovely to see as it is our first child. He was allowed to come to 20 weeks butbthat wasn't as good due to the baby position etc. I wasn't allowed to facetime either.
Hi, I found it difficult not having my husband with me at the 12 week as the last time I had a scan at 12 weeks I was told the was no longer a heartbeat it brought back what happened.I don't know if the sonographer was just being nice but as I was very anxious at the scan, she said because of Covid and partners aren't allowed in for the scan she would let me have the photo for free.
I was told my partner could hopefully attend the 20 week scan, unfortunately they didn't allow him in, I asked the sonographer to write the gender on a paper which we looked at together in the car. My colleague said her husband was allowed in with her at the scans, it might be worth to ask.
I think if you book private scan your partner can attend.
So did I, but the articles I saw only referenced NHS England and when I asked my midwife here in Wales it had not changed sadly! Don't see it changing soon anyway due to the case numbers reported in Wales. x
It's a hard one, I haad my son october and my husband wasnt allowed to any appointment or scan. It was awful really for him so we got a couple private scans done instead
It depends on the trust/area. The new guidelines published says all trusts must conduct a risk assessment but doesn't have timelines on when the new rules will be applied. Many of us will likely miss out on the benefits because it won't all be sorted out before our key milestones. 😔
They warned me from my first phone call that my partner wouldn't be allowed in the 12w scan but he can join for the 20w. He still wants to go, just will wait outside in case I need support straight after. We're getting a free photo of the scan, unfortunately for legal reasons it's unlikely that you'll be allowed to record anything or have a video call - I asked! It's very sad but it will be ok. Maybe we'll do a private scan for 16w or so x
Yes I think it’s varies depending on where you live because my partner wasn’t allowed to attend the 20 week scan either. I’m sure with the lockdown restrictions becoming harsher not much will change x
I’m in the north east near Newcastle we’ve got our 20w scan on tue nothing has been said he can’t go also he came to the 13w scan too our letter was processed the same day as our 13w scan end of Nov so unless they’ve changed it since we’ve not been informed.
