Hi , I am about 12 weeks gone , and am going for my dating scan tomorrow. I know I need to drink a lot of water , but how much exactly ? I don't want to over do it !!! Can't wait till the morning !

They usually recommend about 1 litre.

Thanks . I was told two litres !! I am quite small in frame and height , and got really worried that I may have an embarrassing accident . I know it's silly , but have been worrying all day, amongst the other worries , hoping that the baby is ok ( 1st baby and me being 35 ) . So one less stress is a good thing :) .

I think if anybody drank 2 litres of water they would float away in this weather..lol :) . Congrats by the way..35 is a good age for a baby, i'm also 35 and think i'm pregnant again too. My kids are 10 and 4....keeping everything crossed that i am..as been trying for abit and getting all the early pregnancy signs. All will be fabulous for you...enjoy the experience of it all...especially your scan hun xx

Hi hbaby1, how did it go?? :)

Thanks for your advise . I drank too much water (a 75ml bottle) and had to go and partially empty my bladder !! ha ha ha , that was hard but it did assure me my pelvic muscles are ok !

The scan showed a little heartbeat and that I am not 12 weeks but 10 weeks and 6 days. It was great to see the little one has two arms and legs , and he was kicking about , also very stubborn and would not move position !!!! Also I have a " heart shaped uterus " , which is a partial subseptate uterus . She didn't seem to alarmed by this but has referred me to a consultant .

Because I am not as far gone as the calculator suggests , we are going back in one to two weeks , when the baby grows for another scan , which will allow them to do the nuchal scan too !

We did get 3 free photos , can't wait to scan them and email them out to the family ! So yes it has been an emotional morning . I am very tired now , time for feet up and some afternoon tv , as I have the rest of the day off :) .

Next scan I will empty my bladder an hour before and drink half a pint of water ;) . I hope your scan goes well , it's an amazing experience !

X

Aww i'm so happy for you hun...that's great news. Things have changed since i had mine as regards to the amount of water to drink...so sorry about that one. It's the best feeling in the world having your first scan and i can understand it's taken it out of you today. Hope you've got your feet up and are relaxing!! xx
