Help with nausea and vomiting in pregnancy

Hi all! I am 8 weeks pregnant and suffering a lot with constant nausea and vomiting 1 or 2 times a day, every day for the past 2 weeks. I have tried all the tricks in the book.. acupressure, eat small frequent meals, crackers in bed, ginger tea, plenty of fluids, rest.. I feel awfully bloated in the evening and feel like digestion doesn't happen properly so I take Rennie tablets which helps with that. I just don't know what else to do about the vomiting.. This is really impacting my daily life and I am constantly in fear of being sick at work. My GP told me that I am not in a serious condition to be prescribed any medicines so I will have to manage it myself. I can't wait to start experiencing the joy of pregnancy, as every bout of sickness really brings me down.. Everyone just tells me to be patient and things will get better in a couple months and I just wonder how much longer.. : (

Does anyone have any tips that worked for you? Any over the counter tablets or chewing gum that helps with nausea? Smells as a big issue too. . even deodorant makes me sick. Any tips on whether aromatherapy/essential oils help?

Thank you!

Constant nausea is grounds for medication, ask to speak to another GP and explain how it’s impacting your life! You shouldn’t be forced to suffer and manage it alone especially when you’ve tried every trick in the book, lemon and grapefruit oils seemed to help me after I was sick because they were refreshing to smell, but I was the same and my sickness just got progressively worse xx

I’ve had this kind of sickness/ nausea through both of my pregnancies and as said below it is grounds for medication, so I would go back to GP. I have been on cyclizine through both and although I’ve still been sick, it has been reduced

.-I find eating plain, bland meals at regular times helps (not eating made it worse, even though you don’t feel like eating!).

-Trying to avoid acidy foods.

-I’m also v sensitive to smells (the smell of some washing the other day made me sick 3 times...) so trying to manage this as much as possible and avoiding any triggers.

Good luck! xx

Hiya, I was like you at that point and still sick up until 17wks, the doctor gave me Promethazine allergy tablets. I took 1 tablet before bed and it helped me sleep and cleared my nausea!

They take 3-4 days to kick in, but did work once they did. Ask your doctor for some. Hope it helps and you feel better soon x

Hi.. I’m in my 12th week of pregnancy. Like you I felt nausea everyday but vomited only now and then. In my first trimester I think I’ve thrown up about ten times but I feel nausea everyday which in some cases make it worse. Due to this and feeling low and emotional I had to take time of from work as I couldn’t cope with it due to how I been feeling. I been of from work for sixweeks and I’ll be looking to go back phased return. Taking time of helped me to focus on myself and also It relieved pressure from work. With the sickness and nausea I allowed it to come and go because I was told that there is no medication to help with the sickness!!!! Which is obviously a lie because mothers have mentioned takin medication but it’s probably for mother’s who have worse sickness then I’m experiencing.

Its unfortunate to say that I am still experiencing nausea and sickness and my moods and emotions are always different every day hence I’ll be going back on a phased return and hope that during the second trimester I will feel better and more myself as everyone keeps telling me...

I hope you figure it all out and wish you all the best!
