After a successful round of IVF and now 6 months pregnant we have come in to some trouble with the pregnancy.
Bleeding took me to hospital last week and an emergency scan revealed a rupture to the membrane around the baby - so loss of amniotic fluid. Putting me and baby at risk of infection and baby's lung development now compromised. Steroid injections and antibiotics are all they can do for now to try and help.
Has anyone on here experienced this problem? My partner and I are doing all we can to stay strong for our baby girl, who we hope can stay inside for a bit longer.
An added complication is that she is also breeched.
Any advice would be really appreciated
Thanks,
Tessa

I am so sorry to hear of your heartbreaking discovery.
I suffered from pprom back in November at 19 weeks and it was too early for steroid injections at that time. I don't have good news to share with you from my end, but I will say that if you look at little heartbeats, there are tons of stories like us and some parents were lucky enough to take a baby home.
I really truly wish you well and I will keep you in my prayers.
Also to add, drink plenty of water and rest as much as possible. Sometimes the rupture can heal itself overtime, given you don't contract an infection.
Please ask your doctors for more antibiotics once you finish this course. Push and ask questions, don't be complacent.
Thank you for replying to my post and I’m so very sorry to hear about your loss. I can understand in some way what you must have gone through and you are a warrior.
I am just resting at home now, and keeping up the fluid intake.
We just take each day as it comes right now and pray for some improvement.
The only thing I can do for you is praying for you. May God make it really easy for you and may you have a healthy baby girl within your arms very soon xx
Hey Tessa, I know this is a late reply but I had my membrances ruptured at 24 weeks (well 23 weeks but I only realised and was admitted at 24 weeks). My waters properly broke at 26 weeks and he happened to have turned head down so not in breach. I gave birth at 26+3 weeks and everyday had been a battle on whether to keep him in or induce. In the end he came on his own and we later learnt that was because infection was starting to set in. 3 months in NICU and we are now home. I gave birth in a level 3 hospital that specialises in extreme prematurity so met lots of mums, including those with babies born 23 weeks and full term babies with complications. There are lots of incredible stories of these little fighters. Thinking of you and I hope everything went ok with your pregnancy.
