Should I get early care at the risk of losing IVF eligibility

We've been trying to conceive for 5 years. We have so far had 2 pregnancies which have resulted in early miscarriage. I have low progesterone levels and even with medical intervention has irregular ovulation.

We have been told by many care providers about the importance of progesterone treatment early on in pregnancy especially in patients who have a history of miscarriages as we do. We have also been told however that if at any point we do fall pregnant the clock for waiting for IVF on NHS is reset to 2 years.

What do we do:

- Do we not tell anyone if we get pregnant, miss out on early pregnancy care but keep our chances for IVF should we miscarry

or

- Do we tell our local midwifery clinic that we are (very early) pregnant in order to get early care but push the minimum date where we can have IVF into June 2022 if we were to miscarry again?

We're tired of being punished for being 1% successful at getting pregnant. We have 0% babies! We can't be the only ones in this situation...

Who mentioned this IVF rule? Was this from.the IVF clinic? Never heard of this tbh and it sounds like rubbish. The eligibility for fertility treatment on NHS here is that you don't have children, are undr 42 and have been trying for a while. I'd check your source.

The poster is right. It’s the same in my area too

I appreciate this may sound like rubbish to you but this is our experience, whether the clinic was following guidance correctly is another matter.

We had our 2nd miscarriage, had an appointment with the clinic expecting to be able to start the conversation about IVF. They told us because were able to conceive that meant we could so were not eligible for NHS funded treatment.

We would have to have been tying for 2 years with no pregnancy to be eligible. IF we were to have a 3rd miscarriage though they would do more exploratory testing.

We're contacting our local care now to make sure we're getting early care. This pregnancy has to be the most important one.
