Bad right hand side pain, 18 weeks pregnant.

Hi guys, I’m new to this group but just wanted to ask a question.

I’m 18 weeks +3 and have been at the pregnancy assessment unit twice in the last day with on and off bad pains in my right side, they’ve ruled out anything major with blood tests etc and baby boy is fine(thank god) but just wondered if anyone else had suffered with this? They aren’t sure what it is and have said it could be bad trapped wind or constipation but the pain was so bad, would trapped wind etc, really be that painful?

Any advice appreciated!

Thanks xx

I’ve had really bad pains just under my ribs, in my sides and back (near shoulder blades). I was very bloated at the same time and couldn’t get comfortable or sleep. Because the pain was radiating front to back they were concerned I might have a blood clot so I was asked by the MAU to go to A&E.

Turned out to be extreme gastric reflux with ALL the symptoms all at once. So, short answer, from my experience ‘just’ trapped wind can be excruciating. Always worth getting checked out though, like we both did, just to be sure.

Thankyou so much! I think the most frustrating thing is that they don’t know exactly what’s causing it! I’m lucky it’s nothing major by my blood work etc! But just this pain is so bad! Xxx

I haven’t had this but do get pain on my lower left side which is where the endometriosis was removed from. Trapped wind can be extremely painful I’ve had it lots. ☹️I walk now after dinner as it helps with digesting otherwise I get terrible heartburn I find it can ease it a bit. I feel for you it’s really horrible being in pain. It is safe to take paracetamol in pregnancy. Baths are good for tummy pain too 🙂Hope it eases soon & glad it’s nothing serious with baby xoxo

Ahh the did wonder if it was something to do with the massive cyst I had in the beginning as that was on that side but has totally gone now! May have caused scaring I suppose! I’m starting to think it’s not trapped wind and how baby boy is laying! I’m at the doctors today as I can’t even go to work the pain is so bad and I can’t sleep! It is on and off pain tho so it’s weird. But every time they check baby boy he’s fine, moving around like crazy so idk if he’s just very active and it’s hurting mummy🤣xxxx
