The NHS recommends mum's wait 7 days after bleeding stops before they go swimming, but babies can start whenever. My mum took me to specialist swimming classes from 3 months and I'm glad she did because I've always been a very strong swimmer.
They have to be in a hydro pool until a certain age as its kept warm. Have a look on google im sure it will tell you.
I was advised to use pads and also to use them my first period after baby
Baby can go swimming at any time. We go to a local hotel as it’s quiet and warm but a normal baby pool at a swimming centre would be fine xx
I’m a baby/pre-school swimming teacher... we don’t see the benefit of swimming until about 3 months of age where they can take in the surroundings and can engage a little more, but do recommend to do what’s called conditioning at home in the bath from birth, so basically getting them used to having water all over them (head included) - which you could do in the pool if you wanted a day out.
Pools should be a minimum of 30-32 degrees, 32 if under 3 months and I wouldn’t recommend being in there for over 30 minutes with baby, there’s no benefit to it. Leisure clubs and public pools are generally kept at between 25-30, more being around 27/28 and 1 degree cooler, you can really tell the difference. (Make sure you take plenty swim wear layers for baby if you only have access to those sorts of pools and don’t stay in for long).
Hope that helps somewhat 😊
It’s not recommended to use a tampon for post birth bleeding.
