Allowances/financial support

Hi does anyone know if you can claim any benefits if you are unemployed? We get some but that’s hardly enough to pay one bill. Money is tight and I’m stressing that we will struggle. They don’t give much support if one persons earns an ok wage which just covers the monthly bills.

This online calculator would be able to give you a good idea of if your eligible for any additional support - turn2us.org.uk

I’m in exactly same position hun!

I only get child benifit at £20.70. Can’t go to work as working part time would go straight back out on childcare payments so no point, my partner works full time but as you say just enough cover bills, that’s us right now worrying about paying for food...things that we definitely need! I had a bit extra saved since I was at uni so I put some aside once I found out I was pregnant..thinking of working when little one goes pre school/nursery...🤞 anyways...

I hear that I can get child tax but my child is 14

Months old now, still don’t know how I go about that...

If you hear anything let me know! Xx

I’ve tried the calculators! However they aren’t too accurate :( ended up claiming for someone I wasn’t supposed to and got rejected and felt like an idiot because these gov websites told me I would get it.

Ridiculous it is!

Try applying for universal credit or job seekers depending on ur areas. You may not get a lot as depends what ur husbands income is. They don’t help much with people who earn enough to pay bills.

I don’t know if I can get maternity allowance as I’m not employed.

I'm kinda in the same boat. Me and my partner live at home with our parents because we can't really afford to rent privately. I'm 28wks pregnant and went to the council who said we'd be entitled to benifits that would help towards rent but when doing the online calculations it says were entitled to nothing as my partner earns too much. I'm currently on sick pay then going on maternity which makes no difference. And I'm facing homelessness from my house because its just too small. And I'm worried they'd house me alone which can't happen as I need my partner with me after my c-section, and I want us to to be together as a family. We can rent privately but we'll have hardly anything to live on after bills. I hope you find a solution.

It’s probably the wrong time now but did u look into mortgages? I know my friend who is single has a mortgage she bought a reposed house so it was cheaper and needed work

There may be a house out there if you put ur wages together.

Try universal credits or housing I don’t know if you would get much.

Could your partner not move in with u and ur parents or vice Versa to help save
