I have heard of lots of people talk about taking aspirin. For what reasons would you start taking it? Thanks

I have been prescribed it because I’m over 40. It helps the placenta blood flow xx
A few of us ladies have been through IVF or something similar and it’s prescribed by their clinic. Not sure of the reason though x
Hi
Some.women have blood clotting issues and aspirin can help to combat that as it's thought it affects blood flow to womb and lining and will make it thicker and healthier. They are usually on blood thinning injections as well as aspirin.
Even without a blood clotting issue a lot of women do respond to aspirin regardless so if you have repeated implantation- failures or early MCs it's worth considering x
I’m struggling to conceive, have been trying for 9 months with no luck. I wondered whether it was something worth discussing with my GP?
Thanks for your replies
Have you had tests through the gp already? They will start you on the route of general fertility investigations. I.e. try to find out if you have hormonal balance, if you ovulate, have blocked tubes, how many follicles you have etc. For the blood clotting or related they may not test quite yet but I would ask if you can have your thyroid and thrombophilia panel (that checks blood clotting, proteins etc).
There is another forum on here called infertility network which may be useful for you to look at for historical questions etc.
Finally, have you been charting your ovulation (not with an app but with actual tests), be active sexually with your partner every 2 days, make sure you have a healthy and balanced diet - and get his sperm checked.
Good luck xxx

Thank you for your reply! I haven’t been to the GP yet as I’m 34 and thought I had to wait a year but I’m thinking of just going in the new year anyway. My husband is not keen on doing a sperm test- embarrassed?! Wtf hey! I’m sure he will just needs convincing lol. I bought an ovulation kit last month, I did ovulate which was reassuring.
Will do the same this month. It’s such a frustrating process. I have a 5 year old and had no trouble with her- she was a honeymoon baby!! I didn’t think it would be so hard second time round. I’ll have a look at that other forum you suggested so thanks for that! Merry Christmas
Sorry to jump in - the forum.is called 'fertility network' not infertility in case you can't find it
And it's a brilliant resource !
Many women do find second time pregnancies harder to achieve and also as we get older of course there are more consideration
But I definitely think you should see your GP and do the hormone and thyroid tests in particular- as these are crucial for fertiloty and sometimes.wlmens thyroids are affected after a previous pregnancy
Also check for vitamin defiicnecies such as vit D, iron, folate, ferritin and b12 which are all important for thyroid as well as pregnancy too
You do not need to wait a year before seeing GP - that is usually for referral to gynaecology or IVF.
Would absolutely see the GP in new year and get your husband asap onto lifestyle changes and supplements too to give you guys the best chance as sperm quality takes 6months to change
Good luck and don't stress. The fact you are ovulating is a good sign and more than likely you will fall pregnant naturally ! But worth ticking a few boxes along the way x
Thank you for your reply. Lots of things to consider checking then. I’ve recently had normal bloods done but they didn’t check those things I don’t think- it’s wasnt for infertility at that point!
What kind of supplements do you suggest?
I’ll book in with my go for the new year!
Thank you so much. Feel a bit more hopeful again now
Good luck - it's certainly worth ruling things out slowly but reminding yourself sometimes it's just a waiting game
Supplements will depend on how low your levels are
If they are defiicnect you will need specific doses and types to raise them
Otherwise you should get enough from your diet in the absence of health problems
Virtually D and folic acid being the exception as you need extra normally when TTC
For fertility specific supplements I would ask your doctor to also do an AMH test. This indicates how many eggs you have left and the quality of them
If it is low you may want to take coq10 ubiqionol (not ubiqionol) and maybe DHEA as others have done to improve egg quality - but discuss this with your doctor first.
Do search on the fertility network forum on healthunlocked You will see lots of posts about all of these things and great advice specific to it
Good luck x
I was put on it whilst under consultant care with baby number 2. Helps blood flow to placenta . It was 75mg so baby aspirin.
My midwife prescribed it as I’m over 40 and for the same reason snuggles144 said.x
