I’m 27 weeks today and have my gestational diabetes blood test on Monday morning. Just had a look and it says to give 2 hours for the appointment, is this correct?

Yes. It's because they give you a drink and check your blood sugar two hours later, or something like that.

Yes it is... you have fasting blood test and then a sugary drink... then have to go back 2 hours later for another blood test xx

I didn’t have to do that 🤔. I just had to drink the drink two hours before a blood test then went and had it done and that was it. Two min appointment if that x

Yep, I had to fast overnight, go have blood taken, and take a set amount of sugary liquid then sit around the waiting room for 2hrs before having more bloods done. They also didn’t want you wandering around during the wait either. I took an iPad and watched a movie with headphones on, not going to lie it was boring and I was starving afterwards!

I was the same as lovefood1984. They don't want me doing anything as excercise will effect blood sugar readings. It is crazy how each trust follows different protocols. You would think it has to be standardised. X

Yep 2 hours. Fast I think 6 hours before then had a blood test, then drink stuff. Had to wait 2 hours in the department, you are not meant to leave as it can give a false result if you walk too much etc and then blood test after two hours.

Cant eat during the two hour waiting either. Id Suggest to take a book or something to do.
