Pain in the glutes

I am 11 weeks pregnant and for the last three or so weeks I've been having pain in my glutes, mainly on the left. It feels like I've pulled a muscle and is very uncomfortable. It isn't something that I have had before, despite doing a lot of dance. I've not done as much since just before Christmas. I'm more wondering if it is just me or others have had a similar experience. I've not really had any pregnancy symptoms, but this has only happened since being pregnant. However, not something I've heard of as a symptom.

Hey Kata89 congratulations on your pregnancy. I’m experiencing the same at 10 weeks within the last two weeks. I saw my midwife a few days ago and she advised it’s quite normal and is probably the baby sitting on a nerve. Maybe you can discuss this too with your midwife to ease your concerns. I’m quite an active person and planned to stay as active as possible throughout my pregnancy so hopefully this doesn’t stop me x

It could be mild sciatic nerve pain. It’s common during pregnancy, I had it with both of mine. Here is some further info plus some good stretches for pregnant ladies that help. healthline.com/health/pregn...

A combination of stretches and prenatal yoga helped me and sleeping with a pillow between my knees to help with hip alignment.

As the comment above, your midwife will be able to advise too.

Hope that’s useful! X

Thanks it's nice to know it's not just me. I'll talk to my Midwife ASAP to let her know and see what she suggests.

I have the same thing on my right side! It's worst when I'm lying down and have to move or turn over in bed. I figured I'd just pulled a muscle but I've had hyperemesis and just been lying in bed for months. Glad to know I'm not the only one! Let me know if you find out what it is!

Yea I will do. I'm not seeing my Midwife for a couple of weeks yet. It's not constant so I might just give her a call to let her know and see what she says. My one and only pregnancy gripe, it's so painful for a few minutes but doesn't last long at all.

Has taken a while to get back to this. Midwife suggested speaking to my gp. I didn't in the end as it's a nightmare to get an appointment, but wore heat patches for a few days. It's pretty much gone now. Still the odd sore moment but it's clearing up.
