Hi Blg2009,
Clary sage is one of three aromatherapy oils often used by practitioners to stimulate uterine contractions in the late stages of pregnancy and/or during labour. The other two are Yasmine and Rose. Clary sage is the strongest of the three and should be used with caution. Rather than buying your own and putting it in the bath I'd advise that you seek advice and guidance. You need to be sure that you are buying the correct oil and that you aren't using too much as you could cause hyper stimulation (too many contractions in a short amount of time) which isn't healthy for baby.
By speaking to an aromatherapist qualified in pregnancy care you will also find out about other oils which you may find useful.
Whilst aromatherapy in labour is not advocated by national guidelines some hospitals do offer them and have midwives qualified in applying them. Speak to your community midwife to find out if your hospital is one of them.
Good luck.
