Have any of you ladies taken antidepressants ?

I'm feeling pretty low as considering discussing with my gp whether it would be a good idea to start taking them

It would definitely be worth talking to your doctor. I was depressed last year and the doctor wanted to put me on pills (whilst not pregnant) but I didn't want to be on them... So he offered me help groups and people I could talk to... So even if he doesn't prescribe anti-depressants he may refer you to somebody to chat.

Hope this helps a wee bit xxxx

Having been on anti-depressants myself, at the time I just listened to the doctor who stated I was depressed, depression/low mood is meant to be a chemical imbalance of serotonin in the brain and tablets are meant to stop this. I found that I relied on them and truly believed they helped however another doctor disagreed and said I should never of been prescribed them as it wasn't depression/low mood just stressed about life and taking tablets wasn't the answer, since stopping them well it took a while to adjust but now I can see that they done more harm than good, I would never take them again. I found that going for walks or meeting up with friends or just doing the things that made me happy was better than any tablet. But everyone is different, do what you feel is right for you.

Remember things like exercise release serotonin, so if you do some light exercise this will help to lift your mood. Or if you are a complete fatty like me and exercise is out of the question.... I recommend chocolate :) but not too much cuz chocolate contains caffeine..

Be happy. Smile lots. Like sh17 said, hang with friends, do things you love!!!
