In the same boat...! don't worry, it'll all work itself out.. Is your little one in nursery? Mine started nursery 1 month ago and has become alot better since - i was always very near to him when he was at home with me and i have noticed that he will play on his own alot more since.. that's not to say that he still wants to know where i am all the time. I am planning to keep him in nursery a couple of days a week once the new baby comes so we can have one on one time, but also want to make sure that i spend 1:1 time with my little boy too so he doesn't feel pushed out. He's probably not going to understand.. but as i get bigger i will try and tell him about the new baby and how he can help mummy picking things for the baby.. Planning on getting him a present from his new brother / sister too. It will be tricky as they are still babies themselves..

Hi, William has been in nursery since last July as I went back to work full time then, he has only just started to sleep through the night last week! And doesn't even do that every night, he's very demanding.

I also plan to get him a present from his new brother/sister. I know it wil all work out? It's just scary to think about. William was a very difficult baby and I couldn't imaging having to deal with another difficult baby and a toddler.

Like you I will leave him in nursery but not sure if full time or part time. Also need to work out how to get that 1:1 time in as my husband doesn't work locally and doesn't usually get home until it's almost his bed time.

Congratulations!

Its tricky eh? i think we are mad!

Jack had all the colic / wind etc and many a night of screaming for hours in the middle of the night.. he is currently fighting tonsillitis and up several times a night (from sleeping through) and it is killing me! really not sure how it will all pan out, but one way or another it will :o/

I think just try and use the new babies nap times to have a little playtime together when he's not at nursery (although all we'll want to be doing is sleeping ourselves..!), hoping that he is going to want to get involved a little and help fetch nappies etc.. Urgh! too much! :o))

My son is currently 14 months and I'm 5 months pregnant, so there'll be just under 19 months between the two of them. I thought it'd be nice to have them closer together but right now I am questioning this a little ;-) My son wakes up A LOT at night, so we're both shattered and going to work is so tough. If this continues I have no idea how I am going to cope with having him AND a newborn that needs feeding and my full attention pretty much 24/7! However, I believe as with having a first baby where you're not quite sure how to manage all... it'll just happen. You'll adjust and it'll all work out somehow! I'm sure there'll be tough times, challenging times and desperate moments, but there'll also be two little people to make you smile, make you feel proud and give you so much love. We don't have family around, but if you do try and arrange for someone to maybe take the little one for a walk every now and then when your firstborn is at nursery or have one-to-one time with your older child. Your 14 month old might also be very different in terms of behaviour by the time No2 is born and/or might adjust quite well to the sibling. There are so many unknowns, but for now enjoy the time you have with your 14 months old and the rest will all fall into place! At least that's what I try to convince myself of ;-)

I wad in your shoes not too long ago i have a 3 year old and a 5wk old baby now and my 4year old hated the idea at first till i got her to sit and talk to my bump sounds sillybi know but after the first two days of jealously i now cant change a nappy on my own as i got a cup so she could wet the wool and got her to help me put my new born to bed and the jealousy has stopped. I manage to fit the 1 on 1 with my 3year old in with baths and cuddles while my new born is sleeping and she now sees the baby sleeping as her time with me dunno if this helps xx

P.s dont be afraid to ask for help it is hard with two but you find your groove quick enough xx
