hi all , we are 5/6 weeks pregnant . getting a scan in 2 weeks . im suffering from very bad m/s all day all night:(
Hi, it's horrible, I know, but remember to try eating as having an empty stomach makes it worse, whether it is just feeling nauseous, or actually vomiting. Many people suggest eating ginger nuts and drinking ginger tea. It helps top have something like biscuits or crackers by the bed, as nausea is often worse when you get up and can sometimes be eased by having eaten something before you get up. keep hydrated and eat what you fancy little and often, songs try not to worry about the health of your diet. I worried I wasn't eating healthily enough, but since I couldn't keep many food down I decided to ignore all helpful advice about what was healthy until I could actually keep it down long enough for it to have a benefit!
It will go away. However, I find even now (34 weeks) some supplements like pregnacare make me vomit, and according women my antenatal class, I'm not alone, so it may be worth trying different supplements if you take them, or changing when in the day you take them.
Take care, congratulations and good luck.
I wasn't sick, but felt sick and found eating a little and often helped! Keep a packet of ginger nut biscuits nearby at all times, I also had a thing for hula hoops and mini cheddars as they were easy to carry around. Work out if it's one particular thing, I found tea, coffee and milk made me feel sick, so I avoided them, had to find breakfast alternatives as I usually have cereal with milk. Ginger is supposed to help, hence ginger nut biscuits. One of my friends found the wrist bands for travel sickness helped her. I also found fizzy water helped me. Try different things and see what works for you.
Hi Ash23, congratulations! I'm 13 weeks now and have also had horrible morning sickness (all day sickness!) I still throw up most days now but my worst weeks were 7-9. Having the scan made me feel like at least the suffering was for a purpose and I've felt a lot more positive about managing the sickness since. That said, before I had the scan, I felt so sick that I really struggled to see anything positive about being pregnant and even felt like I didn't want it at times. Nothing I took 'cured' the morning sickness, but somethings definitely helped. Ginger tea or ginger chunks would sometimes bring very short relief. Salted crackers first thing in the morning before getting out of bed or during the day when I couldn't managed anything else. An empty stomach made things very bad so nibbling throughout the day helped too. I gave up trying to eat normal meals and grazed on whatever I could manage at the time - broccoli and cheese for breakfast happened a few times! Good luck and take it as easy as you can.
congratulations, I have all day sickness and its not nice, I have found that eating or snacking alot helps, as has chewing gum or ginger nut biscuits. . you may find they vanish after 12 weeks as your use to hormones but everyone is different so just try and see what suits you. x
I used to carry crackers with me everywhere, and would munch them through waves of nausea. Ginger never worked for me but citrus tastes did, so like others have said listen to your body and try lots of different things. If it gets really really bad or you feel like you are getting really dehydrated go see the doc.
