Yes Hun it's normal and can be frustrating but abide by the time and you should have a great ultrasound picture.

Perfectly normal! In some NHS Trusts, you don't even see the midwife until the 12 week scan. Seems such a long wait ... but so worth it!

All the best

As stated above it is very normal not to be seen until around 12 weeks. When you see your midwife they will go through your history, get blood tests and make or have your edd scan.

Hi, I felt the same. I found out I was pregnant at 6 weeks and didn't get my first midwife appointment until I was 13 weeks with my scan being at 14 weeks. It was like the world had stood still waiting for that first appointment.

Hope you have a healthy pregnancy x

One thing I would be concerned about is the scan being at the right time especially if u want the combined test. There is a very short window of opportunity for the combined test and not all hospitals do them so do your research and get your scan booked ASAP x

I think it varies on where you live. I saw my midwife at 8 weeks, blood tests at 11 weeks and scan will be 2nd November. I would double check regarding your scan tho, as that should be done at 12 weeks ish.. My midwife booked that in via details I gave over the phone. X

I foudn it hard waiting till 7 weeks for my appointment so can imagine how hard it must be waiting till 12 weeks!! From what the midwife said to me it might be a good idea to call and see if they can get you in earlier in case you're further along than you think? You don't want to miss important screenings! I was exactly the same - you only really have the positive preg test to go on don't you? Until i had my early scan i was convinced there wouldn't be anything there!! :-) x

i feel the same until i see the scan i wont believe it, i already look 6 months pregnant!! i spoke to someone local today and it seems standard practise where i live i just feel so ignored. i am going to speak to my partner tonight and think i will ring on monday with some questions i just dont want them thinking im a neurotic pest! ah the joys of pregnancy x

hi, likewise my first pregnancy was 15 years ago and things appear completely different now, i made an appointment with my GP after having 2 positive tests (i was 6 weeks), all he did was weigh/measure me worked out when baby was due then just gave me a pregnancy pack with the miwifes number on. i rang her straight away and was advised they dont see you for your booking in app (blood tests etc) untill week 11/12 this feels such a long way off and as my first baby was so long ago this feels like a first pregnancy and my circumstances are completely different , with my first i had all the tests, scan etc at 8 weeks. Im stil not sure about my 12 week scan whether i have to book this mysef or it will be booked on my 11/12 week appointment. hope this has been some help and hope you have a healthy pregnancy x

in my area when you see your midwife they send away the forms for the dating scan. i saw my midwife on the Friday, got my scan appointment through on the following Tuesday and it is was for the Tuesday afterwards so they are pretty fas. the midwife asks if you want the down syndrome screening and that goes on the form. i am now waiting for my 20 week scan which is the 27th Nov. due date is 11-10-13. good luck with your pregnancy xx
