Just a general rant borne from the boredom and frustration of being overdue (40+6) with absolutely no movement after 2 sweeps and still only 4/5. Anyone else playing the waiting game or have been in this situation? Any coping strategies for a really impatient mum to be?

Not exactly the same.....I had too much movement if anything! From 36 weeks the midwife and all of us believed the baby was coming. Constant symptoms and contractions and dilation and pain, blah blah blah! Then he didn't come until 41 weeks.....felt like forever! I was so impatient I almost exploded!! No tips as such just try and think that it can't be much longer now.. you've done the hard slog and you are so nearly there!! Good luck with it all!! x
Oh wow 5 weeks of that sounds just as bad as nothing happening in terms of impatience! I know it can only last another few days, but I really am that impatient! Thanks for reply, hope you are enjoying motherhood -x-

I feel for you totally. I was in the same situation 7 weeks ago and the waiting was so hard especially with well meaning people phoning and texting every 5 mins.
Not sure I coped particularly well but one thing I did do was keep a diary of my feelings etc.
I also took myself out on one of my favourite walks (along a running route I used to take) down by the river - anything to distract you is good. Do you like going to the cinema?
My little one eventually came 12 days late after a final sweep and was born the morning they were going to induce me!
Now my little boy is 5 1/2 weeks old and the waiting is becoming a fast fading memory.
Don't worry, you'll soon be holding your little one in your arns x
I am in exactly the same boat, I'm 40 weeks and 6 days with the head only 3/5th's engaged!! I got a sweep yesterday but still nothing so it looks like I will just need to wait a bit longer!! I'm booked in for an induction on Tuesday if nothing happens before then!!! Good Luck xxxx
Yep been there! I was due 17th July (remember how hot that was) my little girl didn't come until the 29th July 40+12 and that was only because they had to induce me! They would have let me go the full 2 weeks over but they had no room to book me in so brought me in 2 days early! Same As you I'd had 2 sweeps, with no success, 2 lots of induction drugs in the hospital with no success! She was determined to stay inside! Eventually they had to break my waters for me which eventually started my labour that night! I know it's really boring waiting but just enjoy these last few moments of peace and quiet! And calm! Get walking loads, it might not help your labour start but it gets you and your hubby or partner out and spending a last few hours together! And think yourself lucky it's a lot cooler when your overdue and not the middle of the hottest summers in like forever!!
I can understand your pain.......and my ecd is not even due untill next Thursday so not even overdue!! Feeling truly fed up today and had enough of all the aches and pains. It feels like she is wedged right in the middle of my ribcage and I can't move without it being massively uncomfortable. The only thing is im now quite looking forward to labour starting so I know the end is in sight haha. I read somewhere that, as well as all the well known tips, stimulating your nipples can help bring things on....something to do with hormones that are produced as a result.
Thanks everyone for replies, feeling more positive today. Wendywoo82 i can imagine how bad that waiting was in that July heat so yes I am definitely grateful for the cooler weather. Have been walking a lot and it does ease the boredom. Hope all goes well and soon for Cupc4cake10 and missmancs29 -x-
