I was due on Mon 25th, had a sweep on Tues but cervix was still 1.5cm long and very closed. I can barely walk as baby is so low down that the pressure makes it painful to walk so I've been housebound for the last two weeks, unless my husband or friends drive me places.
The sweep didn't do anything and I'm due another one this Monday, having Braxton Hicks all the time but no signs of actual labor (yes I'm definitely sure they're only BH).
I'm booked for the pessaries on sat 9th and I'm so scared, I don't want to be induced and have everything get intense really quickly. Worried I won't be able to cope but also so sick of being pregnant as she's been low for so long I thought she would be early. Losing my mind staying home all the time.
Tried walking but ended up in lots of pain, bouncing on my ball loads, tried curry, pineapple etc. Not looking for starting labour tips but just need some reassurance as I'm so scared of having to be induced.

Aw I feel for you. I had my baby 12 days over due. I had the pessaries when I was 11 days overdue. Hopefully now your booked in baby might make an appearance. It seems when things are booked they like to show their face xx
Youll be fine even if you do get induced youll be in the best place unfortunately theres no way of telling how your body will react but try and stay calm and breathe ( stupid thing to day i know 🙄) hopefully it wont even come to that and the 2nd sweep will do the trick not long now believe me it will be worth it in the end you can do it ! Xxxx
Sounds horrible for you, I hope baby decides to make an appearance soon, of their own accord.
So difficult for you not to stress out now I imagine, but try to find ways to soothe and calm your frazzled nerves as much as possible. Anything that reduces stress hormones flying round your body will be helpful as they impact on how quickly labour progresses.
Wishing you all the best.
Find someone locally who can give you an aromatherapy massage with massage oils that can induce labour more naturally. Get out the house and spoil yourself before you don't have any time to yourself. Also the massage will help relax you, making you feel better and your body might then naturally go into labour.
Once it all starts you'll be fine, it's the over thinking it thats the problem, I'm very guilty of that. Xx
Hi, I’ve been induced with all of mine ( I have 7 children ). It’s not bad at all, I’ve managed to labour with no pain relief with the hormone drip going. You’ve got this. You will be fine. Love and hugs and hope baby makes an appearance soon xx
Thank you so so much for this comment, I have only heard horror stories so this has made a huge difference to me. Also wow 7 children! Thats so amazing, you are very lucky <3
I was induced and it didn’t start everything really quickly- induction started 11am sat morning, waters broke 2am Monday morning. So it doesn’t always make things quick. If it’s really painful you can always have an epidural... I never thought I would but it was the best decision ever to have it!
To be fair I'm not sure they can do a sweep if you're cervix is closed. I know with my first they couldn't because of this. I was booked for induction twice my girls appeared at +6 both times. Hopefully it will just happen naturally before then.
I was 14 days overdue before my little boy arrived and had a very long labour, having had a partial water leak on Wednesday. I would say don't be afraid of the induction. The pessary and the injection are both fine (I had both at various points, and had the rest of my waters broken too). Some people say that induction is more painful, but though I have nothing to compare it to, but I don't think it was really any different to having a baby any other way!
Ah thanks so much for replying, its so scary going into the unknown! Have my 2nd sweep this afternoon, I really appreciate all the replies <3 Ive been trying to look at positive birthing stories online about being induced as well, im just terrified of having a c section (i didnt cope every well recovering from abdo surgery last year). Thanks so much for sharing xx
Hi Hannah. Sorry to hear your so fed up and sore. I feel your pain and share your worries as I am now 40w +4 and midwifes keep offering me to book induction. I’ve resisted so far as I’m having similar feelings to you and don’t want the anxieties.
I think I might try some of the alternative therapies like others have suggested to stay relaxed and calm. We need the happy hormones not the fearful ones. Also have you done or read anything around hypnobirthing birthing? My friend was inducted very suddenly only with 24hrs notice and she found reading about positive birth stories and induction really helped her stay calm alongside hypnobirthing techniques.
Staying calm everyone says is the key to help baby come naturally so that’s what we should be trying especially like me when you can’t go out the long walks due to pain. I have PGP so also I’m the same situation as you. Stay strong and positive. You will do this whatever turn your birthing takes xx
Hi Hannah. How are you getting on? Have you had your baby? I am now 11days overdue and I also have the same worries about induction. Would be good to hear how your getting on xx
Haven't been on here in ages but turned out I was in labour all day on 8days overdue after a pregnancy massage, then my baby arrived on 9 days after due date.
I was so uncomfortable I had no idea I was in labor for hours but then was like "ooooooh I seeee".
