I am 40+5 and no sign of labour, not sure how often you notice the membrane plug (discharge of mucus) as I have noticed that a couple of times so can't even say if it has unplugged.
I must say that I am not worried as I believe the baby will come when he/she wants to, my worry is, I don't want to be induced (would really love a natural birth.
Any idea?

Hi Zahara, my little man decided to keep me waiting as well. I was given a date for induction (40+12) on a Friday as I think they wanted to induce before the weekend. I had a stretch and sweep at around 40+6 which did nothing, but my cervix had started to thin. I then had a second sweep at 40+11 where they noted things did seem to be moving on. That sweep caused my Braxton Hicks to intensify and I felt quite sick afterwards. I went into labour in the evening and he was born the following morning.
Thank you so much Dozymum, I guess I just have to sit back and relax. Have a sweep arranged for tomorrow. I also guess it is probable that my membrane have not unplugged yet as what I have seen so far was just like mucus and have happened a couple of times.
Aww I agree these babies have their own timing the plug ive had a bloody one with all three of mine in early labour and there wasno mistaking it lol but everyone is diff! Good luck look forward to hearing your baby news x
I was 10 days late and the day before had a failed sweep and the hospital was convinced that I would have to be induced, an evening on an exercise ball got him moving, my plug didn't come away until I was in established labour in the birth pool and he was born in his sac so my waters never broke...baby will come when ready xx
Thank you so much dear. Had a sweep today but I guess its failed as the midwife couldn't get to my cervix, she said its still closed. Induction booked but God willing the baby will come before then.
Thanks again for reassuring me.
I didn't want to be induced either (as in REALLY didn't want to!!) but ended up being induced on day 13 of being overdue :S
My birth 'plan' (HA!) was scrapped. However, when the time came it really didn't matter -I can only say this now in hindsight, I might add. If I'm honest I don't know ANYONE who's birth plan went to plan! When the midwife booked me in for my induction I cried; and I cried all night before I was induced. But it really doesn't matter. I promise. Good luck.
