True friendship is...

For me, True friendship is a precious possession.

Anyone who renounces a friendship sees himself or herself excluded, forgotten, forever pushed out of the circle. That's how simple the law is.

Friends who deceive each other are condemned to obscurity, if I may say so, and they will always wonder why they no longer find any acceptance.and I dislike them immensely . They are the lowest of the low and will belittle you.

The moment you experience the blessing of a friendship you have the sacred duty to obey its laws and rules. Regardless of the consequences that may ensue. The rules of friendship must always be observed in silence or in encouraging words.

Hi Roddy, I think the term 'friend' is a changed thing since the advent of social media. Often those 'friendships' are no more than acquaintances in a second hand sort of way, and can be very easily discarded with little hurt to either side.I've always believed that most people are very lucky if they get a handful of real friends and that's across a lifetime. Those 'got your back' sort of people who stick with you when the chips are down, keep confidences, and would still come and sit with you when they don't know what to say or do in a crisis.

There is often another group of people with whom we socialise and call friends too, and they are fun to be with and we offer each other companionship and company. I find it's this group who can be dangerous. 'Friends' of this sort flock together and when when one of their number is missing from a conversation, they will actually gloat with each other about your misfortunes, while you have no notion, until something happens which catches them out. And that's the point at which I really agree with you Roddy. They aren't worth having as friends. You can choose to leave them out in the cold, or you can continue to socialise. But then it's with a deeper knowledge that they are not to be trusted or relied upon.

Absolutely true....so many are just acquaintances and not friends ...and i can count my real friends on half a hand if i'm honest.When the chips are down people soon scatter.xx

I don't do Facebook and just can't get my head round the idea of ' friends' on there. Its a shame they can't find another word for it.

I once saw a t shirt with the slogan 'f*** Facebook. I've got real friends' 😁I was tempted to buy it for my brother!

I have two very close friends- I have known them for over 40 years, and we've been there for each other through good times and bad. I treasure and value them so much .
