I watched Boris' briefing g last week and he talked about a pill for Covid, well here's an article on it. The scientists have been nothing short of amazing in my eyes.
The saddest news feed I’ve seen this morning describes how the families of patients with CV-19 in India are, quote, ‘pleading to buy air’. What a sad indictment of these times. We won’t beat it Jerry until every country on the planet is COVID free😔
Yes it's been heartbreaking to see it in the news- I had to switch it off yesterday as some of the images were so harrowing.
Hi Alicia, yes this brings more hope for the complete control of the covid19 virus and maybe other viral illnesses too. As you say science is often absolutely amazing and we're lucky to live in an age where so much research produces such good and fast results!

It really does sue and the scientists are working so hard to ensure safe vaccines and pills are delivered. We certainly are lucky to live in an age where we have the equipment to test and deliver good results.
Absolutely yet I can’t help but feel humanitarian response should have been planned much sooner. It was always known that a level playing field is needed to truly effect control. It goes without saying I’m indebted to how quickly the scientists have rolled out vaccines and the international medical teams have been fantastic in identifying the best treatments. However, I noticed as far back as a year ago that there was a paucity of information coming out about how poorer countries were faring and I remember talking to one of my medical colleagues about this and him replying, yeah, and that’s what will bite us on the bum! We’ve all still a long way to go and whilst I totally agree there’s light at the end of the tunnel, I believe it has to be a light every country can see equally. The sad thing is that I have colleagues who have saved many lives in this country during the pandemic who are now losing parents in India. My heart goes out to them all and here’s hoping that through working together, we can stop the progress of this horrible virus🙏🌈
I'm so pleased your second jab is now booked, excellent news.
I agree the way things are going we're going to be able to help other countries, India certainly needs it, my heart goes out to them. It's an enormous amount of COVID cases that India are having to seal with. The vaccination programme has proved though that it works so the quicker we're able to help those countries like India the better.
We most definitely are going to beat it.👍💞😊
Totally agree
They certainly have. They've been working on the tablet for quite a while now, Boris Johnson was talking about it at his briefing last week. There were some people saying they didn't trust the vaccines as they thought it was too quick but there's proof they're working, we really need to help India and other countries like them.
hi- i heard that we ( u.s.) is sending jnj vaccine to india and africa. we don't use az here and now people are not willing to get jnj here either. so they are sending surplus to those who need it so badly. makes you wonder about these governments that don't have medicine or oxygen for their people....horrible situation.
It is undergoing clinical trials and I understand it will not be rolled out for a few months. It’s an antiviral that will reduce symptoms apparently. Antivirals are used a lot now in cancer treatments with good results and in HIV they are literally a life safer. However, side effects include risk of osteoporosis, as with chemotherapy. The problem with all allopathic medication is there will always be side effects and I guess it’s weighing up if the benefits outweigh any ill effects. Always a dilemma. Like you, I would want to see it go through robust RC trials re efficacy. There are many who, like you, have had adverse reactions from medication that has not been robustly trialled and you make a very valid point😊
It certainly does and we, and other more well off countries need to help.
I had my name down to take part in trials but never got called up. I can see from your personal perspective so understand what you are saying.
