Hi guys, I have had a bad day and I don't want sympathy or anything I just want to tell you to be aware of these people who are out there and how good they are and don't think like I did that it won't happen to me because it did . I was scanned out of £943 pounds they were good they knew I had got sky package and they said when I'm on the internet other people can see what I'm doing and they need to change the router and sky would reimburse me with a couple of hundred pounds and they did it all on my phone as I watched they even gave me the day sky would come out to sort it and asked what colour of router I wanted and the guys name who would come out . After a few hours with the fraud team I got the money back but please be very careful . Clive X 🤗

Sorry to hear this and I am glad you got your money back. The golden rule is never to follow any link given to you when you are contacted like this. Always check the number and the contact out independently and never give any personal details out unless you are 100% sure it is genuine.

Also never fall for the free gift and paying shipping money only. You will always find that hidden deep in the contract in very small writing that you commit to a subscription which will cost you a fortune. I fell for one of these once but did get most of my money returned.

They sounded real like a call center .. but you live and learn 🙏

Yes you do. They are very clever so don't feel bad about being taken in.

They probably were a call centre, they have scam call centres too. Catching the swine is the problem.

When i get call like that I ask them what my account number is. The line goes dead at that point

Hello hypercat54

All good advice. I never respond to any phone or internet solicitation. Be also aware of dialing incorrect phone numbers. There are people who obtain toll free phone number which are one digit off of often used number in an attempt to scam you out of your money. Blessings.

They are everywhere. I have lost the plot-most are easy to spot (like the inland revenue message saying you will arrested for not paying taxes and ending with ‘have a good day’. But

many others are carefully thought out. My husband fell for a call supposedly from his bank and they were very devious getting his details. Fortunately he told me and I told him to get onto the bank immediately. Just as well because they were already siphoning off the money. He got it back but it was very scary. From the conversation they had with the fraudster it is very likely to have been the fraudster.

It has now got to the stage where I am sure I am deleting bone fide texts. Glad you got your money back.

Hope you have a better day tomorrow

So sorry to read this Clive, I know you've had a tough time recently and this must be difficult to deal with, but pleased you've got your money back

First and foremost Clive, thank you for sharing this with everyone. I know sometimes there's a tendency to want to just bury it, but we all need to know about as many scams as possible so we can avoid them. But happily you have your money back, so thank goodness for that. What's interesting about this one is that you have just had a new Sky package and it goes to show how much strangers learn about us from all sorts of sources. Thankfully you realised quickly that you'd been scammed. All's well that ends well, but I'm sure the stress of it has taken its toll on you. All the more reason to relax over Easter before you go into hospital.

Thanks for warning us. Very glad you got it sorted.

I'm sorry you were scammed Clive, don't feel bad, these people are very clever. My hubby and I were scammed last year and it was a lot, it was our retirement pot. We had a few months of worry wondering if we'd get it back, fortunately we did.

I now trust no-one, in fact I had a phone call today apparently from HMRC saying I had fraud on my tax account so please press 1. I cut the call off, blocked the number and deleted the call.

It's a good thing you shared this as it's a warning for the rest of us so thank you.

Alicia🙏

I’m glad you got your money back. I don’t always answer to unknown numbers. Sometimes I don’t answer , immediately. I find it awful not being able to trust anyone, but that’s how it is these days. Look after yourself.

I get these; but I won't give them the time. As soon as they say they are from sky about my speed or similar I say No thanks and hang up. If I had a problem with it I'd know and would call them.

Take care,

Cheers, Midori

Sorry you had to put up with such an ordeal but thank goodness you got your money back. I don't know how these people sleep at nights. I am a bit lucky here because I have Asperger's and phones terrify me so I never answer if anyone rings and I let my answering machine deal with calls. I can then screen the messages in my own time. Best wishes!

Many thanks for the warning. These people are the lowest of the low but they are so clever at what they do, if only they used that knowledge to help people rather than themselves. So glad you got you money back.

Glad to hear that you get your money back, and thank you very much for sharing this information to us. I personally never get these kind of calls, but I can read many reports filed by people at sites like phonebook.ai about similar scams. People should be aware of these scams.
