Dear Alicia,

I, quite frankly, Despair of these (I'm going to keep this POLITE) 'People 'and their, seemingly Endless' Scams.

I have almost 'lost count', of the times 'My Internet is being cut', 'my Phone has been hacked', 'Suspect Payments' have been made, 'Unusual/ Unexpected Logins have occurred'.... need I go on!

The Best Advice, I have ever read/ been told is..... If it doesn't seem Genuine, simply 'Hang Up, Log Out, Terminate The Connection'. Then contact 'The Actual Organisation', on the Phone Number, Text, or Email, that you are familiar with. A GENUINE COMPANY WON'T 'MIND' YOU CHECKING!

If you haven't Entered, or Signed Up For, a Lottery... you CAN'T have Won it, Whist it Is- theoretically possible- to have been Randomly Selected.... SIX Times, in eighteen months!

I just want One, just one, Insurance Company to call me... No Really..."Bloggsie's Insurance here, about your Accident....." "How Did You KNOW! and it's running 'All Down' my Legs..... Please Don't 'Tell' my Mum!!!!"............ Just the ONCE.... Please!

Sorry Folks but you HAVEN'T 'Won' the 'Solar Sunbed Set', or 'The Day Trip to Buenos Aries'. if your a Mother, of young children, you MIGHT have won 'The Years Supply Of Cotton Nappies (Diapers)' If you can remember actually 'Entering' such a competition. (Oh 'great news' if you DID win, by the way.)

The 'Pity' is that there actually ARE some, very genuine, 'Giveaways' around, Companies DO give 'Promotions', of their Products. A friend, some years ago now, had a 'lovely' White Board- in her Kitchen- a Freebee, from Somewhere.

Pretend that you are ordering Irish Cheese- Act Very 'Caerphilly'. Seriously though...

Take care all, a Very Genuine

Dear Andrew

That is so very well put.

We were caught out last year big time but never ever again. The same people phoned again one evening a few weeks ago and I said to my hubby whilst he was on the phone, it's a scam, put the phone down.

I got a phone call from my doctors surgery quite a few weeks ago and it came up as a 'private' number, I picked up the phone and said nothing and then the voice on the other end said 'hello, this is .......... surgery', I instantly recognised the voice and apologised for not speaking.

There are so many scams now it's ridiculous. These people that scam others are horrible people.

Thank you for you excellent response.

Alicia 🙏

Hi Alicia, thanks for the warning, as it's so easy to respond in panic to bank messages via email, text and phone. I've adopted the policy of assuming any of these are scam attempts, and if I think there's a remote possibility that I might genuinely need to take action, I ring my bank. Fraud is becoming so rampant now, it's time that banks had a firm policy in terms of how and where they get in touch with us. We can no longer assume that any message is genuine.

You're welcome Sue.

I, like you, have now adopted the approach that all emails and phone calls are scam. It really is sad that we have to think this way but it's so rife now that we have to be extra cautious.

I agree, I think banks could do more, in the long run it would save them money as not so many people would be scammed and then they wouldn't have to keep reimbursing customers for their loss.

It's so sad to no longer have trust.🤔

Thank you for the heads up Alicia👍😘

You're welcome Don👍😘

I've had quite a few purporting to be from Amazon, they normally say 'hello friend please test ......', I press delete straight away. I got one the other day apparently from Inland Revenue, a classic one.

They are internet thieves and have no morals whatsoever. Love your final sentence 'bring in the Daleks' - brilliant.

Alicia 👍👍

Well in my opinion Jerry they aren't much better than fraudsters trying to convince you you'd get a £1399.00 phone for £1. So many companies put the terms and conditions of sale in such small print people struggle to read it and bypass them.

Always good to be a cynic I say. Well done to you.👍👍

Well I was think maybe the Cybermen could have a look in LOL 😂😂

It was a lot of money for a prize and the £17.99 is definitely the give away.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

Alicia 🌈😊👍

Horrible. Best to ignore. I get scam phone calls on landmine usually at lunchtime.

in reply to diana1998

I totally agree with you Diana. I think these scammers are awful people and have no conscience whatsoever.
