I came across a site showing the 15 best Welsh castles. I was much taken by Harlech Castle, which inspired this painting. I aim to suggest what the castle might have looked like a few centuries ago, when the sea still washed the base of the crag on which it was built, but the development of gunpowder and cannons had rendered it obsolete. Did the wind blowing through it whisper, "Do you no longer look on this work, ye mighty, and despair?"? I look and see hours and hours of hard labour constructing it.

12" by 9" watercolour with salt, wax crayon, acrylic ink and Indian ink.

Beautiful painting Brent, your sensitivity to the subject shines through. I do like the clouds.

A great medium selection that's produced a lovely result BrentW. I like your allusion to Shelley's Ozymandias!👍😊

That's absolutely beautiful 🙏
