Weather has improved ....so the young horses are going out on the 100 acre farm and trails to change from being ex race horses to field trained....a lot of ask of them but they have been at the farm for two years decompressing.....but terrrain and wildlife and blowing winds.......leads to some rather wild moments .........u never get mad as they are like city kids in the outback....pooor guys ....and learining the ropes....often we just go out and let them graze......one tiny step at a time..........we are repsonsible for their education training and total welfare......they cant mess up as they cant read etc.....and are just coping..........hint to human students and people............who isnt anziout or scared........whoa when they decided to blow at a passing deer .........yeeee ha....and hope u stay in the saddle...........trails? trees??/ leavies what that dad???? .......but we will take a long and as slow as we have to.....be nice with 50 years of experience and runing the entire place and carpentry and cleaning the whole pace up and delivering and laoding hay......twoelve hourse a day....be nice to get more than room and board.....

say helloo to everyone as we do our part in the other man from snowy river.......like i said.....point them strainght down, tuck yhour bottom and who isnt nervous from time to time...............we were super prooud of treh m and all our two legged frieinds hiere.....

What a lovely descriptive post about life among horses. I was fascinated by your description of the terrain and their behaviour. I could almost see it and felt I was there. Lovely! 🙏

Re educating a horse can be the most rewarding thing in the world, especially when bringing one from an artificial life such as the track to a more natural life.

You see them scared stiff of anything new, even another animal, to slowly relaxing as they come to understand that the new life is the proper one for them; although there will be shenanigans until they get used to the new sights, sounds and smells.

I wish I was still fit enough to do it.

Cheers, Midori
