My cll is in remission for last 18 months . Also diabetic 2 on tablets
After last weeks announcement about shielding being extended to another 800,000
I recieved my vaccine at age of 59 ( due to diabetes I guess ) but no letter to shield . In early days I got free priority supermarket delivery due to being on their list . But doctor when I asked for letter confirming I needed to shield he said I would be just under the line needed for his letter
I also know 2 others in 40’s same diabetic but not confirmed as shielders but vaccine to be given in next couple of weeks

Hi Jsk1950, the latest 'shielders' have been identified on more scientific grounds than was possible at the outset of the pandemic and they are an additional group to the first shielders. If you have shielded in the past you should probably observe whatever the latest guidance is which you have been given. I see you have wisely checked to see if you should have received a letter too though. It's wonderful news that you too have received your first dose of the vaccine. That must make you feel a little more relaxed about your situation.
In all honesty I am surprised you are not on the shielding list. I was originally on the list, because of Type I diabetes and heart disease but taken off after about a month as I wasn't pregnant! 🤣 I have now been put on the shielding list till 31st March. They seem to have take multiple conditions into account is this tranche whereas previously they do not appear to have done so.
I'm pleased your CLL is in remission but your treatment will no doubt have left you with compromised immunity just the same as if you were still in w and w. I think you should be on the shielding list. Leukaemia Care are very good at advocating (free) if you get no joy from your GP. I had to go down this route last year.
