Dear Everyone,

The Season of Good Will, to Fellow Man? NOT to the 'Scammers'... They are back, if They ever left, that is.

Usual 'Thing'... The Scammers telling ME about 'Scammers', trying to access My Account...... If this Does 'Happen', to you, just Hang Up.... Don't, in Any way, engage them in ANY Conversation.

By all means 'Log' any Numbers, that you can- not that they well Connect to anything.... Do speak to your Providers 'Fraud Line', I'm with BT- which is 0800-661441. This, extremely good, Service can Offer you 'Tips' on Reducing these calls... Either that or an old Scout Whistle!!! (or maybe Grandad's old Police Whistle..... Next Door's Squabbling Twins.....)

Merry Christmas Everyone....

Thanks AndrewT. I get at least one call on a daily basis. That's a good idea using a whistle, I have one somewhere and will look it out.Best wishes.

I have several security filters on my phone. It’s very rare that a scammer or spam call gets through without a warning on them popping up.

royal mail one (of many I believe) an email supposedly from them to say they tried to deliver a parcel (we were at home at the time!!) and asked for address phone no and email to arrange redelivery - presumably to ask for card detail for 'delivery charge' I had to remind my husband that they don't operate in this way so he looked again and the email for response was to royail mail. I know BT have a good system for blocking calls but our provider doesn't. Being plagued by calls on and off so have ansafone on all the time so we can hear who it is.

I always check emails for a return address, and I don't take incoming calls. I let them go to my Ansaphone, unless I know the number. Makes it hard for my GP surgery to get through, as they will withold the number.

I always ask anyone who asks for card details to give me their card details first. The call cuts off at that point.

Great advice AndrewT. We all need to remain on guard against this.👍

We have BT Call Guard phones Andrew and they save so much hassle as a lot of the scam numbers are pre-programmed in so when the scammers ring, they are screened before the phone rings and if the number is on the list of scam numbers, the phone won't even ring. Also, for numbers not programmed in, there is an answering service asking you if you want to accept the call, send it to the answer phone or block it - if you don't want to do any of those things, you just hang up.

Very useful idea, must look into getting one, as the spammers now know how to bypass TPS.

We signed up with TPS years ago and it has never done any good whatsoever. I even tried to re-sign but it just said that I was already signed up!!! 👎

Thank you Andrew There are so many of these scam calls, it's absolutely disgusting!! I remember a few years ago my Dad had a phone call saying they heard he was having problems with his computer, they could fix it but needed card number!! Dad said I don't even have a computer and have no intentions of getting one so stick that in your pipe and smoke it😂🤣😂🤣they ended the call very quickly!!!! 😂🤣😂🤣

Thank you Andrew for the BT number, that's very useful. We were scammed really badly a few months back but I question everything now and put the phone down a fair bit. I actually answered the phone the other day when they said they were going to cut my broadband and told them they were scammers. I've had that phone call so many times now.

Many years ago now, probably in the nineteen eighties, my Father- who was a Sales Manager for a Large Dental Supply Company- had a call from a 'Marketing Company'. (Real, or not, doesn't really matter). He asked, the caller, if they would 'Excuse Him, for a while'- busy office and all that. He left the phone, in a position, there were Only 'Office Noises'- for about twenty minutes.

After this time he said 'You Have Wasted, My Time, So I Have Wasted Yours' and hung up!

Nice one Dad.
