Quality Street, Roses or Celebrations?

I like Roses because the chocolate is Cadbury's and there are lots of lovely soft centres, but I grew up always having Quality Street at Christmas. ππΈ
We slways had quality street too, but I think some of the ones I liked have gone now.Much prefer to buy single flavours if chocolates say for exampe after eights. This year we have managed to get a pack of just Roses strawberry creams.Yum.I always find that there's always those left in the tin that no one likes. For us it's the coconut ones.I remember my great auntie taking a tin round to her neighbours one christmas and the thought it was a lovely surprise, until she said "you can have these. These are the ones we don't like!
Bought Celebrations for the family but I prefer Lindt.
Celebrations for me, bounty(coconut) in the container! π
Coconut gets under my plate! π
But not mine, Hylda..... lol π
I lick chocolate off and you can have the rest! π
Lovely jubbly π
πππ
I don't eat chocolate any more due to health issues, but when I did I always liked the toffee ones
It would be Quality St but I don't buy them now as they don't seem as good as they used to be. Or maybe that's just the rose tinted specs talking. I love Hotel Chocolat although it is pricey. I do indulge and buy a few of their mulled wine chocs. They've got quite a kick to themππ°
Hi wiserlady, For years I was a firm Quality Street fan, but I find that they are anything but 'quality' now and what I really enjoy is making a few treats of my own, like bite sized 'rocky road', fudge, truffles and Indian barfi. All of those are more assembly than hard work, and I keep a little stash of sweet cases in my kitchen cupboard for any special occasion that requires something a bit special.Do you have a favourite of your own?
not heard of Indian Barfi Callendersgal, we used to have an Indian sweet shop around the corner years ago, that had lots of very sweet moist coconut type balls, most of them tasted very much the same but all different colours, at the mo I have a tin of roses and a tin of quality street but i take out the flavours i like and leave the rest, otherwise id be chomping through loads i am not keen on and maybe putting on weight too when its not worth it. ive lost a lot of weight over past two years so that would be a big mistake. i like the purple one wiht the soft caramel, and the truffles, not keen on the creams, if i want to eat a bounty think it works out cheaper to eat a bounty rather than get a box of celebrations and eat twelve tiny ones.
Barfi's great and even greater since I found a cheat's recipe wiserlady. It's also very similar to fudge but not as sweet! The cheat's version uses condensed milk and instant milk powder and it's seasoned with powdered cardamom and rose or screwpine water and you can add other goodies like chopped nuts and dried or candied fruits. It's really more-ish!
Ooh fudge. I used to make it but it's so loaded with fat and sugar and I can't stop eating it that I only make it for gifts - with a little taster for me of course. Well I've got to know if it's fit for giving lolππ°
I have that problem with fudge Madbunny. No stop button! And too much can make you feel awfully sick! π€’π
Barfi sounds good. I must have a go at making some. I've just been watching 'inside the Christmas factory': they were in the Quality St factoryππ°
which of their sweets do you like the best and the least then?
I used to like roses years ago but they have spoilt them taking out the old flavours like the cherry cream.
Quality street are my favourites and celebrations.
dont remember the cherry cream, it must have been nice for you to miss it, i find most of the cream ones are too sweet
Quality Street - only for the penny toffeeπ, hard caramel πand mauve caramel one π. As you can probably guess, Iβm a toffee fan. Not so keen on chocolate, but if there is toffee Iβll put up with it π
ah yes the caramel with a nut in it - they only put two or three in a box boxful though. i wrote to them and complained about it and they sent me another box free.
Oh, good move! I saw a breakdown of a tin the other day somewhere, where they showed how many of each were in a tin. There are 4 of the mauve ones, so not a lot!
None, Iβd sooner have nuts and raisins
I love chocolate, eating, drinking, cooking, yum! Covers all varieties .I am glad you posted this, had forgotten to order and post on to my son his favourite box from Hotel Chocolat for Christmas. Would have been disappointed,
Sopsx
So before anyone else says it - you and I are just nuts π€£
While others are pecan at us having fun π»π»
Thatβs a βdateβ π
While we get roasted under the Brazilian sun. Argh, Iβm running out of inspiration for this conversation. π«
Roses first, Quality Street second. π
I look forward to the next challenge π€ͺ
Oh no- cue Bazzak and his jokes lol
Bought these today. They look cute and I bet they taste nice. Sorry about the pic for some reason they sometimes come up sidewaysπ€π°
