Just remembered, I used to teach a little boy whose grandmother was one of Dr Who's companions when she was an actress.

I’m sure you know more than me but they also used to and maybe they still do film near where I live 🤷♀️.
I think it is actually filmed in Cardiff.
A quick search on Google backs you up. It is filmed in and around Cardiff.
