I am thinking of getting a beginners telescope but am not sure where to start.... any astronomers out there who could give a little advice?

Make notes on the stars. Look online at star gazing courses as well.

Hi Ali_H, I think that would make a fantastic hobby and one which is easy to do at home regardless of what restrictions we are under at any given time.
I can't help with any advice on entry level telescopes, but I do know that there are lots of amateur stargazing groups all around the UK. It might be worth searching online for one of those in your area. I'm sure a member would be able to give you insight into where to start, as well as some help with getting started with your 'gazing'! Good luck and enjoy!
