As I shared a pic of the retiree horse, here's a pic of my tiny Arabian mare, who is 21 now. That makes her about 62 in people years. She is MUCH smaller than the other horse, and eats about 1/3 of what he eats. She mostly does in hand work, and occasionally provides a riding lesson horse for my barn managers little grand-daughters. She's an Arabian semi rescued from a fancy farm that ran out of money - after many many miles of ground work, she stopped being sloppy with her feet (her other nickname was "The Gumby Mare), but now she's much more coordinated. And pretty. And adorable.
Hope you like the scenery - the rounded mountain in the background is 9700' tall (about 2.95 km above sea leave) and the pasture is about 4000' high (about 1.21 km above sea level) - so the rise is about 1.74 km. For context, that hill is about 4 miles (6.4 km) away, so it's pretty dramatic!

Thanks! a photographer friend took it and gave it to me. I'm very fond of Arabians!
You are so lucky, she is again, beautiful, you truly live in a wonderful place, that looks like the mountain from your abstract painting from the other day.. π΄π
Thanks. It's really pretty here. Here's a link to our local weather cam daily movie that shows you more. I live off to the left of the image toward the back. josephoregonweather.com/day...
I watched it twice, it's an incredible place, wide open spaces, green fields, mountains, I can see why you sketch and paint so much, there is so much too inspire you there. Thanks for sharing. ππ»
Hi, lovely photo, quite a dramatic drop in the background. . Shows the area where you live is surrounded by "hills" you call them? I would say they are mountains. Spectacular though. Have you climbeded to the top of any?
On your profile you have drawn some lovely horses . The recent photo you shared is of your sweet Arabian horse. Your life appears to be surrounded by a love of horses, do you have many? It appears you may also run a riding school. What an interesting life you have.
I do love my horse kids. I don't teach, but we do have a barn manager here who used to be a hunter/jumper champion. In fact, I and one other boarder talked her into a "socially distanced" first lesson of the season. Went amazingly well. I do chores at the barn and sometimes mow the fire break on the property for the barn manager, who has a hurt hip at the moment.
What beautiful scenery! And your little mare! She is lovely! Takes me back, I used to have an Arab cross when I was at school, and an Exmoor pony, which I bought when I lived in Somerset! I miss those days! Enjoy xx
I used to ride Arabians years ago. My first horse was Spanish, sadly I had to give up owning last year due to health reasons. Still miss that horse smell. She's lovely.
What a lovely picture, it looks so tranquil. I love horses, owning a part bred at the moment but before that it was always a purebred. Your mare looks beautiful, it must partly be because of the beautiful surroundings she lives in. Thank you for sharing π
Ah yes, finer than mine. However my last purebred was by Algonkwin, a lovely bay stallion from America, brought over here (UK) to standing at the Biddesden Stud.
They have so much presence and intelligence.
My partbred is 56% Arab and stands at just over 17hh. Not quite sure how he got his height, unless by his grand sire Primitive Rising.
Iβll stop now, I could talk arabs all day π
Thank you again for sharing
What a view!
