Why are the pubs not closing, it's obvious looking at the images all over Britain that overcrowding and people meeting is a major factor, BORIS, SHUT THE PUBS!!!!!!

I wholeheartedly agree. I’m in an area where tighter restrictions have been introduced, so pubs are closing at 10 pm. Are they serious? All this means is that people are going out earlier to “ get their drinking time in.”

All this social thing not meeting other households is nonsense wen they can all go down the pub, they won't shut the pubs cos the government won't make any money and pubs will see closures permanently, people's lives matter more than a job

Oh but business, the economy ………. !! I agree shut the pubs, stop households mixing, do everything before it is too late (again). And bring back shielding (please, so as I get paid) xx

U can't shut certain pubs, all of them need to shut, there's more to life than drinking, u can't have one rule for one pub and shut the other, all pubs need to shut

Pubs are a vital source of many people's social life and it's not just drinking. It's lunches and meeting friends especially if you live alone like me. We don't all live with others in houses with gardens you know!

Yeh I live alone too, life is more important than meeting up and spreading covid, meeting friends is a cause, think about wat ur saying, lives matter

Mental health is very important too. Me and my friends are very sensible and so are the places we go and we observe social distancing and mask wearing etc. I have copd and at risk so obviously I have given this much thought and have found a balance I am ok with. You must find your own way, and if this is isolating yourself then that is your choice. My choice is different.

I understand wat ur saying but u can't keep ur local open and shut the others, it's like saying ur isolating properly but next door isn't so let's restrict ur neighbour, it doesn't work like that, shud he across the board

I live in a restricted area and we have had several outbreaks where the transmission has occurred in pubs. Small outbreaks, and large outbreaks.

I think it also has a lot to do with drinking traditions within the community. In some areas people pop out for a couple of drinks and a meal, all very civilised. Here, it is not like that.

Pub 11am. 1 pm home for lunch and sleep it off for the night time session. Not everyone granted, but it still prevails. This isn’t young people partying. This is older people going out for their regular sessions. Visiting one pub and then moving on to another.

It would be far better in hard drinking areas to pay the pubs and clubs to close for a few weeks and furlough the staff. This would be far cheaper than paying sick leave and medical costs and would allow these businesses to survive.

I think you will find that the analysis of track and trace returns indicate that infection from meetings in private homes is far higher than from the hospitality industry.

Pubs etc can and are inspected, record details of users etc

You do that at home ???

So ur saying after they have had a skin full in the pubs they put a mask on and go home, no they don't, as u can see from the footage they gather in hundreds, to stop this the pubs need to shut regardless of how clean they keep the pubs, is that all people think about is going to pubs, lives are being lost because of social idiots drinking alcohol and not caring about anyone, it's mind blowing

Some not all

Same as massive social meetings in houses, parks etc ?

PS

I am still in self isolation due to several conditions which if I caught the virus would give me little or no chance of survival.

Yeh but that sum not all is not enough, u can't part close pubs, it's either close them or suffer

If they are saying stop meeting in people's houses they shud say stop meet at the pubs, they won't because the government will lose too much money and jobs will be lost, to me lives matter more than anything

A 10pm curfew for pubs is pathetic, most people are so fixated on keeping pubs open so people can socialise, there are plenty of other safe things to do,wake up and smell the coffee people
