Hi everyone, hope you are all ok . Today we have been told that next Wednesday the restrictions we had are going to be lifted in Burnley so we will be able to go and visit family and friends houses but why the wait why not now , anything could happen between now and next Wednesday .

That's good to hear, but as you say, why the wait, π
I think the waiting until Wednesday is to see if thereβs any other new cases of COVID 19. If not, then everyone can go to see their family/friends.
I think they like to give notice in advance so people can get used to the idea of things changing.
Hi Clive, I'm so pleased to hear that. I agree! I find these waiting periods for a new rule really silly!ππ
Perhaps to hopefully delay some of the bad behaviour over bank holiday weekend??
Hi Sue, it doesn't make sense when they can put restrictions in at midnight on that day . So if there is a rise in cases we will be back to square one , but what gets me mad is I live in the middle of the restrictions in the country and we don't see that many people unless we go into town , but that is the rules like them or not . x
I guess it's always the case that whatever the rule, it gets imposed on some people who really don't deserve it!
Well that is good news, Iβm glad that you will have more contacts with your friends and family. ππ
Looks as if we may be on our way into more restrictions, I've not been well so may o f missed my window ππ’
Maybe some services need a bit of warning but I understand your frustration. There's never been consistency about restrictions .. our local cafe is open and accepting cash payment. The staff are not wearing masks. Just normal hygiene rules.
I have been puzzled throughout at the seemingly randomness of when rules change.
As a twelve week shielder I could see no logic to shielding on July 31st and not on Aug 1st.
Our local hospital has stated that patients can have 1 visitor for 1 hour per day as from Tuesday.....meaning anyone who's family member lives a distance away and who could have visited over the bank holiday due to being off work is not allowed to visit. Unless they take a day off work on Tuesday.
I know some situations have needed planning ahead but visiting family surely not, at least not by anyone other than the people involved.
It almost feels like a case of " why ? Because I can ! "
I think it's often the case that today's rule, is tomorrow's 'mistake'. I suppose it's understandable when the virus' behaviour is still so poorly understood, but being subjected to frequent differing rules for no apparent good reason gets really frustrating.
Hi Longsider,
Here too and not far from you where I live! I am happy they are being lifted and am fine that they are staying a few extra days as when they announced the pubs opening on a weekend, that proved to be a bit of an unplanned and to a degree , disappointing move as many chose to have a full on bender!
My daughter who has been stuck in Wales since lockdown began, can finally come home from Wednesday π
Hi Bee-bop , that is good you will be able to see your daughter again on Wednesday . I live just outside of Burnley I'm stuck in the middle of Burnley and Pendle so I get it both ways but can't complain I'm in countryside and it's quite π
It's a lovely area that way and a nice walk up Pendle hill π we're on a boundary so our restrictions are being lifted but not nearby.
I see hit every time I look out of the window it's a long walk up there last time I did it was Halloween night in the eighties and slept in a barn on way back down as it started to rain . Do you live near here .
What a lovely view you have! I live more Yorkshire way but have a friend in Clitheroe and we've walked up Pendle hill a couple of times. It has the Devil's matchsticks lichen on the walk up, quite the sight! Sleeping in a barn is pretty cool- bet it was great on Halloween! π I camped in one with the kids over in Edale a few years ago.
Hi Clive, I'm pleased to hear that all is slowly coming back to normal in Burnley. I presume it's advance warning that they like to give, so people can prepare themselves and plan ahead. Keep well.
