A very wet morning/early afternoon

โ€ข30 Replies

Hi all

Hope you've all had a good day. We had very heavy rain all morning and then around 13:30 it was absolutely torrential. It was ok where I live but in the city there was some flooding, places that don't normally flood.

I made the most of the day by going to the gym, once I'd finished there I donated clothes etc to a charity shop and this afternoon I made some brownies, no bake bars and have bread dough rising, I also did some cleaning so all in all a good day. I finished the day off with coffee.โ˜•

The photo is one I took from the treadmill display screen this morning.

Have a good evening, the sun is out here now, crazy weather.

Sure is crazy weather. Glad you got your workout in. Youโ€™ve also had a busy day baking. The things youโ€™ve made sound scrummy ๐Ÿ˜‹

It really is Ali, you'd think we were in October at times. Yes the gym was calling.

Yes I'm afraid it's 'those' brownies again, can't resist them.๐Ÿ˜‚xx

Dear Alicia,

I got 'out', this morning with my Mother- she Drives I don't. I needed to replace my 'Lovely, Simple, Easy To Use, Battery Last 'For Ever' Mobile Phone, which sadly Gave Up last night๐Ÿ˜ข. I managed to 'get' one almost the same, for 'Not Much Money'๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜.

We went for walk, along the Sea Front for a few minutes, before 'picking up' my Prescription. ALL Before it started Raining (not quite true, there Was a 'touch' of drizzle, as I came out the Pharmacy.).

I'm now back Home and, Very Much, enjoying the Rain.... it sounds lovely 'tinkling' down the pipes. (there are drainpipes either side of my flat) Ok, the 'water' sound HAS made me 'wet' myself, but that's nothing unusual. I'm rather Hoping for a STORM tonight, a good 'Thunder & Lightning' sort.... not everyone's 'Cup Of Tea' but I absolutely LOVE them.๐Ÿ˜€

The 'Best' one....when I was a Child we had a River Boat, moored on the River Ouse, one night- Moored Up, 'in the middle of nowhere'- an enormous Storm 'hit'.... We all ended up playing Games, having Hot Drinks, Sausages (I don't know where from?) and a Huge Family Cuddle..... I can almost smell the Calor Gaz now......๐Ÿค— Happy Memories.

I think I'll lie down, before I 'do' Dinner- that way I can enjoy the rain more๐Ÿ˜Š.

Wel done on getting out and getting another good mobile that's brilliant you were able to do that.

Excellent timing getting out, well done on that. It's not been easy dodging the rain.

Oh it's good being indoors and dry and hearing the rain. I also love storms but we dont get them that often.

So lovely having happy memories. I remember many trips to the beach on the bus, loved it.

Hope you enjoyed dinner.

A couple if hours of retail therapy for me.We went to our local Freeport outlet as I wanted to get some Skechers slip on trainers. Hubby also got some too so a useful trip.I find them so comfy. I just happened to stray into the Molton Brown shop.....๐Ÿ˜„ where they had some good offers so I treated myself to several bottles of shower gel.I also got a freebie of perfume samples worth ยฃ33!I love a bargain๐Ÿ‘. I must say I didn't feel very comfortable as it was very busy , with little social distancing.Full credit to the staff who pleasantly and politely enforced the one way system. I have really lost my love of shopping.

It's poured with rain for the last couple of hours. Sadly my lovely fuchsias have suffered from this wet weather and I suspect they're going to die off .As the forecast is more of the same tomorrow I'll be cleaning , sorting stuff for the charity shop and baking.

Enjoy your evening too.

โ€ข in reply toMadBunny

Sounds like a good day to me but as you say apart from the lack of social distancing. Sketches are very good trainers and excellent you got some freebies, that always feels good. Shopping definitely not like it was, steaming glasses and face masks.

Shame your fuchsias have suffered, Autumn has definitely arrived early, the weather hasn't been good. I was glad to be able to pass over my unwanted stuff today to a charity, it's good to have a clear out.

Thanks.I'll probably share it with my neighbour.I love a freebie and a bargain- just like my old Dad used to๐Ÿ˜„

We too had a torrential downpour in the early afternoon Alicia. That was unfortunate too, as I'd got my mac on but hubby had gone out in shirtsleeves, hoping for the best! That'll teach him! ๐Ÿ˜

I'm about to start some sourdough off, really only because I fed my starter this morning and it's gone crazy so I want to catch it in full froth!

I can't say your read-out means much to me. I am the antithesis to your wonderful fitness and would rather stick pins in my arm than get on a treadmill, but good for you!

Have a great evening too! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

โ€ข in reply to

It really was heavy wasn't it. Glad you had your mac, sounds like your hubby may have been over optimistic๐Ÿ˜‰

Ooh your starter sounds really good Sue, they'll be plenty of rise with your bread,I'd love to see a photo of the finished product.๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜Š

I burnt 402 calories and exercised for 35 minu8on the treadmill. Not sure I'd like the pins in my arm๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Thank you, I'm relaxed and chilled.๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ™

There is a 'Dark' Side, to Human Humour, no matter how 'apparently kind' you are. The Old Lady misses the Train, someone comes in Soaking Wet, someone Else's Child has a Tantrum, your Neighbour's car won't start.... YOU get the very Last Loaf ๐Ÿ˜‹ and so on.

It Doesn't apply, under 'Normal' circumstances, you don't laugh if 'Mr(s) Next Door' falls over, or Old Bert 'locks himself out'- yet again. You just 'Get The Spare' off the hook- Get him Home, make a cup of tea.....

We had to go up the motorway this morning to pick up my specs from the opticians, It was raining on the way there but on the way back it was absolutely hammering down and all lanes had a 40 mph on them. I find that sort of weather when travelling very scary. It's also gone quite chilly. xx

โ€ข in reply tospringcross

I'm glad it wasn't too bad on the outward journey but very scary on the way back, I also hate heavy rain on the motorway, lots of spray from lorries etc. Gladyou got back safe.

Yes it's cool here, it was only 14c this morning. xx

That looks like a very high tech piece of equipment, glad you had a good work out. The rain has been heavy on and off here. I think it's going to be a bit more settled over the weekend. Let's hope so. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜๐ŸŒธ

โ€ข in reply tobobbybobb

The equipment is really good and there is a lot of it although some are out of use to keep a social distance.

Yes there's been a lot of rain hasn't there. It's supposed to be ok here on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŒˆ๐ŸŒง๐ŸŒค

Iโ€™ll trade You? I live in California weโ€™ve had about 2 weeks into a heat wave ave 95 degrees and High Humidity. I feel like throwing up, canโ€™t sleep. Iโ€™ll be expecting a abnormal AC Bill๐Ÿ˜ฉ๐Ÿ˜ท

โ€ข in reply toWant2BHappy3

I know we go on about the weather in the UK and how changeable it can be but I have to say we do have a very good climate as we don't suffer with intense heat like you do and to have high humidity as well on top of the heat isn't a good mix and I can understand why you feel sick.

That's the problem, if it's cold where you are you get the heating bill and if it's very hot you get the cooling bill, you can never win.

Want2BHappy3 profile image
Want2BHappy3โ€ข in reply to

Thanks, actually where I live it doesnโ€™t get cold enough to use a heater, a extra blanket is enough. This Continuous Heat is also recking havoc on my anxiety. Donโ€™t know what to do with Myself, just a lot of EATING CONTINUOUSLY which is Not good because Iโ€™m a diabetic. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ˜ท

โ€ข in reply toWant2BHappy3

I think you make up for it with your bills for air con rather than heaters.

I really feel for you and others having to endure such heat. I hope you're anxiety and eating calms down. Meditation may help.

Take care๐Ÿ™๐ŸŒˆ

It amazes me that someone as fit as you has health problems. Perhaps, if you weren't so fit you would have more. Keep up the good work. x

โ€ข in reply toSheila_G

Thank you Sheila and I do think it's the fitness that helps, it's certainly good for mental health that's for sure.

Thank you and I won't stop.

Being fit there is No guarantee of Good health. There was this fitness Expert who had his own show promoting healthy eating and excercising all the time. He ended up dying from pneumonia. Paul McCartney s wife Linda was a life long Vegetarian vegetarian and dyied from breast cancer. So You can do everything Right and still get SICK, Healthy people are dying from the Virus. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ˜ท

Thank you Don :)

Very crazy Jerry and we had a lot of flooding around the city but fortunately not where I am. It rained like that again around 13:30 whilst I was driving on a dual carriageway and it wasn't nice at all.

Well done on painting your back door, I bet you feel good you've done that. I bet the bread and cookies turned out well. Funny thing is we had quite nice weather from about 15:30 for around 3 hours before the rain started again. Agree definitely gym or DIY weather.

I've been to the gym again today, wasn't planned but had a message from my daughter so ended up going again, I was happy with that. :)

Hope you've had a good day, enjoy your evening.

Alicia :)
