I popped out to a couple of DIY stores this morning to get some sand and cement so that hubby could carry on with widening our drive, he's already laid cold tar down, a perfect job for this heat as the tar softens and is more pliable. What a struggle to get sand at present, I had to shop around.
When I got back hubby had done a lot but there was nothing I could help him with so I went on a bike ride. The temperature was warm when I left, I cycled up the Plym Trail in Devon which has a lot of trees so I was in the shade. I took some photos on the way back from Yelverton, back on the Plym Trail and when I got off the trail the heat just hit me, I didn't realise it had got so hot.
I cycled 35.48 miles and the last say 4 miles were the hardest as there was a lot of uphill in the sun - phew. I actually felt exhausted when I got back and couldn't wait to sit down.
Crazy weather as it's supposed to be cool here over the weekend. Can't keep up with the weather.
Hope you like the Dartmoor ponies and you will also notice one of the Dartmoor tors in a photo.
Have a good evening all.

I wish I could ride a bike like that. Exercise is so good for so many things, and really good for mood changes. I live in a little trailer so I can't do yoga in it. I go out for a good walk in a park every day or I would go crazy.
Iβm based in the UK and I used to do 22 mile walks with my husband across country. I canβt do it anymore as I have a demanding 8 year old but it was fun
Aren't we lucky in the UK with the countryside. What lovely walks they must have been. I have 8 and 4 year old granddaughters and the 8 year old is like a mini teen sometimes, it can be funny at times. I stopped doing long walks and rides when mine were little but that time soon goes hence being able to get out like I do now.
Enjoy your 8 year old, they are definitely worth it.π΄ββοΈππ
Hi Alicia, Oh the very thought of all of that made me feel so hot, but I'm sure it was actually very pleasant out in the countryside. Glad you got your sand in the end! Some more beautiful views! Thank you.π

Hi Hidden , it was actually fine cycling up to the Moors and back again, it was when I got about 4 miles from home where the heat just hit me. I really did enjoy the ride though.
Thank you, it was beautiful. We have the last day of heat tomorrow then it breaks down for us so I was making the most of it. Thank you for your concern.
Lovely scenery - well done on cycling, and hope you have a relaxing evening. I'm adapting my reply, as I just saw what springcross said, and that's sensible advice - it's a very hot day! Stay safe. I didn't do any exercise today - and I still feel quite dehydrated. So drinking some water now.
Thank you, it was a stunning day. It was warm when I started but the heat ramped up towards the end of my ride. Thank you for your concern, it's appreciated.
I'm on my 3rd glass of cold water now, I keep my water in the fridge. So I've had 1.5 litres since around 14:30.
Enjoy the rest of your evening.

It really was beautiful Hidden and it was warm when I left home, just became very hot when I was about 4 miles from home, boy did I feel those hills thenπ.
Yes the cattle were very sensible unlike the ponies ha ha.
Enjoy the rest of your evening.

Thank you Lynne. It's been a stunning day and I enjoyed the ride very much. Oh I love horses/ponies and if course cows as I had to take a photo of them as well.
Thank you for caring, I'm very cautious with drivers and I use all cycle pathsand am careful when on the road.

I did thank you and I'm always cautious on the road, you won't see me jumping off pavements in front of an oncoming car. xxxxπππππ΄ββοΈ

Thank you. Wish I could get to the point where I do dream but pain decides to come and wake me up usually within the hour xxxxππβ€οΈπ

I so wish you could sleep as well without pain. Pain is so hard to treat.

Thank you. You too. I know what tonight will be like now!! I've got my hot water bottle and electric blanket and my fan on full pelt to keep me cool, sounds crazy, I know!!
Night night God bless Lynne xxxx β€οΈπ€πππΉ

Now that's not crazy, hot water bottle for the pain and the fan to combat the heat, makes perfect sense.

It makes sense in my world, it might not be in anyone else's but it's in mine π€£π€£ππ€β€οΈπΉxxxx

Oh I can see why it makes sense, heat for the pain and a fan to keep you cool, what's not to likeπ. I have ice packs for my itchy skin and than need a dressing gown to keep me warm, I'm the opposite ππ xxxx

We find what is most comfortable for ourselves, if it helps just a little then it's good xxxxβ€οΈπ€ππ»
Another set of great photographs, I love the cows crowding for the shade. I don't know how you managed to cycle that far in this heat today but well done. πΌππ
35 miles wow I walked a mile and my calfs are killing me. I was unable to walk after my cancer operation because of covid so trying to build up my muscles before I have muscle wastage. Don't think I will ever be at your stage though
It will have been warm cycle ride, it was 29Β° here yesterday and set to be 33 today. I took Archie for his morning walk 5hen we stayed indoors till 5, sat out till 7 then took him for his walk as cool8ng down and was lovely round lake. Lovely pics as usual
Today way too hot and I woke up with no voice this morning and feeling rough due to high pollen count so didn't go out till 8pm when cooled down a neighbour took him this morning for me
Well you were fortunate. We go once a year, sadly not this year as we would have been there now, and we mostly get good weather but on 2012 it was awful, it was like Autumn. I remember water running under the cabin on the site, that's the only year though it was really bad but the whole of the UK had weather like that in 2012.
