I work in a school and I am due to go back to work on Tuesday, I am feeling very anxious about this, as I have been self isolating for almost 6 months. I have started going to the supermarket and went to the hairdressers today, but don't feel ready to go back to work full time, is anyone else going back to work?

Hello thank you for reply just some friendly supportive advice.
I would still contact the mental health charities what I mentioned supported employment.
Means have some one to help you a floating support worker to be there speak to while working.
Other thing is these charities have all insider employment advisors tailored companies in touch with .
Understand you and your conditions health issues.
I have used them myself signposting one other many charities want people with excellent skills to work for them so working with those like your self.
Just an idea many times a fresh start can be beneficial
Other one have Evenbreak this is an employment agency for those with illness, disabilty members of our community matched up to companies.
Acceptance of our community.
Hope that helps you

Hi there, my daughter is back to work same day as you and has asked for written across the school notifications for all staff. If you are concerned please state them to your boss and get union support!
Seek help and support from agencies previously posted, all the very best 😊💕
I have some idea of how you're feeling, I work as a receptionist in a leisure centre, and I went back early August full of a mixture of excitement and worry, so far so good, everything is sanitised as we go, everything is pre booked so we know who is in the building at anyone time, so far I've done 10 shifts and had no problems, all the customers that I've seen have been OK with everything, as well, sending good luck wishes to you and anyone else returning to work on the near future x
Hi, Angelgoth, is there anyway you can phone anyone from the school tomorrow morning and arrange a visit tomorrow afternoon so you can go along and see the set up and the precautions in place and guidelines that have been set up. This may reassure you before you actually start. I think it is only natural you will have some anxiety. 🌼😊
Hi Angiegoth, I think most of us can relate to your feeling of unease. I'm retired so don't have this to face, but I have been challenging myself to try to do some slightly higher risk things recently, like today when I travelled in a quite crowded (for covid-restricted times) bus.
I guess no-one knows for sure how things are going to work out in schools, but definitely a lot of care and thought has gone into making it a safer environment for our young people, so I think it will actually be just as safe as using a hairdresser or supermarket. In shops especially a lot of people really don't observe the rules, and I think that in schools it will be more rigidly enforced, so, as long as you take the same precautions as everyone else, I think you'll be OK. Wishing you the very best of luck for your return.
Hello! I had been shielding since 13th March, but as Boris decided that it is all safe for we sickies I had to go back to a Tesco checkout three weeks ago. It was definitely scary as I had not been anywhere there were other people all that time. I made sure that my manager and all the supervisors knew of my fears, but I have to say I have had to remind staff to keep their distance as some people really do not take this virus seriously! I do feel however, that you should be as safe as can be in a school ?! I have found that it's very easy to forget about the "silent killer" and forget to do the basics esp as having been on my own for months and not needed to worry except when you have a delivery or such! So just be vigilant, wash your hands, step back from people if you can, wear a face covering where and if you can and tell your colleagues how nervous you are about it all (my colleagues have been really lovely ). Good luck my sweet, I am sure all will be well xx
Hi thanks for all the replys I think my main problem is this a new school I have never worked in before I work for an agency so I'm temping at the moment, so will also be my first day in a new school and no one knows about my health problems, I do carry medic alert bracelet and ID so I guess that should be enough. I have been going out for a while now, trains buses, supermarket, pet shop. I'm just anxious about going back to work.
I suppose the tip I could give is the old take deep breaths before you go into the new place, walk with shoulders back upright no stooping or hunching and exude confidence when you walk as that will always indicate a confident person to everyone. Admittedly, walking into a new school not knowing anyone will mean that you’ll just have to work a little harder with the confidence walking through those gates. I’d get there much earlier than you need to be so you can absorb the environment more and familiarise yourself with places and areas that’ll be important to you and your day.
