Hidden posted yesterday about things we remember. I did mention my mum in the response.
I was with my youngest daughter today and her two gorgeous girls. We went to a little park near her which is right on the waters edge. Just along from the park you can see the house my mum worked in during the Second World War. I just had to take a photo so I could share with you where she worked.
The house is called Mount Edgecumbe House. If you zoom in on the photo you'll see the house.
Enjoy the weekend.

My soulmate John died 15mths ago but Iβm close to his family, and I am always gonna have my John in my heart and on my shoulder to guide me! God has the time for us to be called to join him
That's not far from me. I live in Castleton. I lived on Smithies Avenue (back of the Black Bull) until I got married. Small world xxxx
What a beautiful house that is Alicia! It must make you think of your mum every time you see it. Sometimes memories can really be bitter-sweet!

Thank you Sue and it really does as does it when I either drive or cycle past where she used to live as well. They are very happy memories and as you say bitter-sweet as I miss her so much as do us all when we lose our loved ones.

I've visited Mount Edgecombe, a beautiful house, I thought the most amazing thing about it is the stunning carriage drive that sweeps down to the water, and what a history it's got! Take care xx

I'm so pleased you've visited it, you can see what I mean. It really is a lovely place and yes has so much history.
Stay safe and well.

My sister lives in Princetown close to Dsrtmoor prison and when I visit she likes to take me to see historical places, Mount Edgecombe was one of the more memorable ones, she told me that during ww 2 Hitler had unsuccessfully earmarked it as a future home?
β’ in reply to
Well your sister has the countryside tonight on her doorstep. Mount Edgecumbe is beautiful bui didn't know about Hitler wanting the house.
β’ in reply to
She does, and in the morning the fogππ
β’ in reply to
Well yes Princetown does have it's fair share of fogππ
What a beautiful house in a beautiful setting. Iβm sure it would have been a wonderful place for your mum to work in. Retracing some of those steps she took with your family and discussing it with them brings it back to life. Family history is always important to maintain because that will be a nice interesting fact for your grandchildrenβs children one day, when they are in that very place. ππΈπ
Thank you Bobby and it really is in a very nice setting with the water and all the green around it. It's funny that my daughter lives very close to where I used to catch the water ferry with my mum when she used to take us to the beach. I agree that family history is very important.
This is a lovely photo withe the House by the water and the green of the countryside. Itβs got a Cornwall look to it but could equally be in Scotland. Very appealing to gaze at it. And a good painting scene.
Alicia how wonderful for a woman at that time, they were made of stern stuff weren't they, we have no idea what they went through, best wishes and btw I love the pics you post thank you so much for sharing - bringing the outside in during this awful time xx
Such a lovely place. So good that you can share those memories with your granddaughters with actual places they can see and use their imagination of what happened back then when their great grandmother was there.
Itβs going to be another hot one here in Georgia, USA. But then .....itβs summer in The south.
Thank you and it really is good to share memories and history with the younger generation. Our eldest granddaughter is at an age now where her imagination can take off.
It's been mega hot here this afternoon but we have a lovely breeze now and it's cooling which is pleasant.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
Alicia
Thank you Jerry and I often talk to our granddaughters about their grandmother, she would have adored them and I'm so sorry she never ended up with great grandchildren before she died.
It was lovely but incredibly hot in the afternoon.
Thanks so much, I am blessed with our lovely family and I have friends abounding!! John has increased my spiritual awareness and Iβm ever more confident of paradise and my creator!! The forum is another great help for me. Take care and enjoy your wkend π
