Most of us love our pets equally or more than our family. Take consolation in that your cat had a happy life with you. All things pass and we are all borrowed to one another. Be easy on yourself and give yourself time to heal. If you have loved, there will be lovely memories.

I was told many years ago that pets are only borrowed to us for a short time and isn't that true, more's the pity. They could surely make us much better people if they could stay a lot longer. Also, the heartbreak when we lose one is really quite immense and for some, long lasting.
How true, when you said we love our pets equally or more than our family. I must admit to feeling quite guilty about loving my cat the same as family, but when she had to leave me a few months ago I was literally heartbroken and cried for a month!! But to know that we loved them for as long as possible and to have these cherished memories comforts us.
Thank you for your kind words of wisdom.
