National Meadow Day

It’s National meadow day today and the chance to enjoy wild flower meadows near you.

If our area is anything to go by these are disappearing at a rapid rate due to developers wanting to build more and more houses but I walked down to the camomile field at the bottom of our garden and took this photo.

(We have had two large developments in our area rushed through by the council over the lockdown so there is uproar to get the decisions over turned)

It’s so pretty it’s normally rape seed or broad beans. I much prefer this and it must be a haven for wildlife.

Ali 🙂

Hi Ali, I mentioned a while back I was thinking about turning a lawn into a chamomile lawn. I love the look of the one in your photo plus the fact it is a haven to wildlife. My next question is what happens throughout the season's? I assume the flowers die back. Before I commit to planting it I'm trying to find out all I can. It has to be manageable and easy maintenance as I'm 76 now and cannot do any heavy gardening.

😀😁😊

Yes I remember you said that you would like a camomile lawn. It needs to be somewhere that you are not constantly walking over. Would you ask someone to do it for you and have you got the right soil for a camomile lawn?

Have you seen this 🙂

What a lovely meadow Agoodenough , so very pretty and it's lovely to watch the wildlife. I'm so sorry that they are looking to build 2 new housing developments on the land, they are so short sighted as the more they build on the fields the more floods we will get. We had some beautiful fields not far from us and there is a huge town being built on the fields and it's awful. Already they have experienced flooding. Common sense does not prevail.

I really hope that you can all get these awful developments overturned.

Take care Ali.

Oh dear Alicia, that’s not good. It’s happening everywhere isn’t it and it’s not good that they have used the lockdown as a way of rushing things through when people were unable to attend the meetings. Don’t think they can build on the fields behind or in front of me but you just can never be too sure but it’s awful for the people who have 100s of houses popping up in their area. xx

It really isn't Ali, it annoys me the way in which they bulldoze their way through fields. I agree with the way in which they rush through things.

I'm glad they can't build behind or in front if you.

Yes I do feel for those that have houses built right by them. They aren't built well either.

Oh gosh, I missed this one yesterday. It's absolutely beautiful and untouched meadows are becoming rarer and rarer. Thanks for sharing. So pretty! 🙏
