A beautiful cycle ride

Hi all

I had a fabulous cycle ride today, the weather is much better. I cycled up our local cycle track out to the edge of Dartmoor (Yelverton). It was fairly busy and there were a lot of children cycling and they were so good and some were only little, they could cycle better than some adults I've seen over the past few weeks.

I cycled 35.5 miles.

I hope you've all had a good day so far and the weather is being kind to you.

Stay safe and well.

Alicia :)

Hi Alicia

Think I know that cycle ride, is it the one that goes through the old train tunnel? Or did you come from a different direction? Desperately trying to think of the name of the pub we always cycled to at the edge of the moors, it wasn't far from Yelverton.

I'm envious as I haven't been out on my bike for years, though it's still in the garage.

Hiya Jean

Yes it's the one through the tunnel, a very dark and damp one at that.

It's the Skylark Inn in Clearbrook just before Yelverton.

I love my bike and glad I've got one as hubby told me yesterday that he'd noticed on the news headlines that bikes have sold out.

Have a good evening.

Ah yes the Skylark, going in there for lunch was always an added attraction. I remember when the railway tunnel had no lights and wasn't painted. It was quite scary being so dark in the middle.

Such happy memories cycling there, lots of times, with a group of friends.

I remember we once stopped to look at a little tumbledown building and I was a bit menopausal (saying daft words) and looking at a little fireplace in it I asked, "Is it an onion" a friend Doug answered, "There's one thing we can be sure of Jean and that is it's not an onion". How we laughed. Have you got to that daft stage yet. It does pass!

The pub is in a very good spot I have to say. The tunnel has lights but no painted so it's still very dark. When we went to Derbyshire on holiday about 3 years ago now we were very surprised to see how light the tunnels were. We go to Derbyshire every year and love it there.

I'm glad it's given you happy memories.😊

Oh those moments can be so funny, yes I'm past that now. Hot flushes and all that gone thank goodness, I had them for about 10.5 years.

Wow, that's a fair distance you have done today. The weather has turned out quite nice today and warm when I had the dogs out earlier. I love old churches, that's a very good picture you have taken there. Glad you enjoyed your ride today. 🌞🚲🚲

in reply to bobbybobb

Thank you Bobby, I loved every minute of it. I love cycle tracks it's great to get off the road.

The weather was dull when i started but it got quite warm en route.

I had to take a photo of the church as i also love photos of churches.

Alicia xx😊🌈🚴‍♀️🌞

Hi Jerry

It really is good to see more people using them and to see more people on the tracks. It certainly is a great and very enjoyable exercise.

I really love old churches so just had to take the photo.

We had mist here early but it soon cleared, we've had cloud and sun but no threat of rain. Looks like next week is going to be beautiful.

Thank you Jerry, you have a lovely evening as well.

Stay safe and well and take care.

Another lovely day Alicia. Did hubby have a nice meal ready for you on your return?

in reply to RoadRunner44

It really was. No bless him he didn't, I'm the cook and we eat very differently as I'm a Vegan and am also on a special diet, the Low Fodmap diet for IBS; he eats meat.

I can't complain as he does housework, ironing, DIY etc.

Have a lovely evening.

That sounds lika good combination of skills Alicia. A partnership like this obviously works well as you both appreciate the input you both give to the family.

Enjoy the weekend😁😁😁

in reply to RoadRunner44

Thank you, it really is. We share everything and it works really well.

Enjoy the weekend as well.

Gorgeous pictures cf, it's such a beautiful place, thanks for sharing. What area is the church?

in reply to springcross

Thank you, it was a fabulous ride. The church is in Yelverton, Devon.

Hi Alicia, it was a glorious day for your ride today. And you definitely clocked up the miles! I guess children can cycle with confidence as it's like skiing. They have less distance to fall and their bones are nice and bendy!

Your pics are lovely!👍🙏🔆💖

It certainly was Hidden , the best it's been for quite a while now. It was incredible, some of the children were so young but amazing.

Thank you, it's such a lovely day.

Enjoy the rest of your evening.

Hi Lynne

That's not a problem, we are all on here at different times of the day or even different days. We mustn't be timetabled to responding to people or commenting on posts as it wouldn't be a pleasure then. I'll be pleased for you when you are no longer shielding.

Take care and stay safe.

Wow 35 miles crazyfitness. You must be fit I used to do that in a day in my teens and 20s I think 5 miles would kill me now. Hope your heels ok Take care Brian

in reply to Bingo88

Thank you Brian. I've been cycling for a long time now and the only time I didn't cycle much was when my girls were little and as soon as I was back to work in 1995 when they were at senior school I got back on my bike and used it for my transport to work and I haven't stopped since. I shall be cycling and keeping fit for as long as I can and won't give up until my body tells me. My mum was still fit when she was in her 80's.

My foot is a lot better now thank you, just a very small bump in the front by the toes, I can even stand on tiptoes now which I couldn't do before. The next test is a long walk.

I have RCC which is Repetitive Cycling Syndrome (LOL). Cycle every day except storms

Dennis and Ciara plus a thoroughly wet day. Don't ride huge distances these days, approx. 175 miles weekly average. Does the trick and sets me up for the day with that

wonderful feel good feeling, as you will know. Best wishes

in reply to cycleman73

Oh I like that very good and it made me smile. I don't cycle in strong winds or very heavy rain. I'll walk in it but not cycle. I don't feel safe in bad weather.

25 miles a day on average is excellent, welcome.

Oh it's definitely a feel good feeling, I love it.🚴‍♀️🚴‍♀️🌈😊
