Covid-19 statistics from Worldometers info

Since the number of infections is impossible to be accurate. The number of deaths should give us a clearer picture of our reality, in order to evaluate the magnitude of the pandemic. For example, whether we should live in intense FEAR if we have already taken the common sense approaches (e.g. masks, hand hygiene etc) to protect ourselves as best we can.

So far, about 56 people per million in the World have died from Covid-19.

The numbers of death per million in these countries are as follows:

614 UK

356 USA

7 India

3 China

0.5 HK

0.3 Taiwan

It's surprising only 3 people out of a million in China have died from this virus (according to the table at

worldometers.info/coronavirus/ )

Look at the column for "deaths per million population".

Of course every individual death is still terrible, but that's a cruel fact of Nature. Still, the birth rate outnumbers the death rate by a mile. Some people fear that this virus could wipe out the human race, yet the current World population continues to go up regardless. It's now approaching 8 billion.

Stay safe, wear a mask and apply common sense re physical distancing. If we didn't have the detrimental global blanket lock down and the persistent refusal of wearing masks, we would have been doing pretty well considering.

Hi superhealer, only today Beijing has gone back into lockdown because of a spike in cases traced to a wholesale market. You are quite right about the force of nature. It's us v. mother nature, whose job it is to redress the balance and help reduce the population every so often. And the cleverer at fighting illnesses we become, the harder nature has to work.

It's worth remembering that death rates are not the marker for how safe it is to introduce relaxations in lockdowns. It's the infection rate.

There are many reasons why this particular virus has been so successful, one of which being that it is viciously successful and took us all by surprise at its ferocity.

Thanks for your thoughtful and informative post. 🙏

To fight mother Nature is a battle we can never win.

There are other more effective methods to prevent infection than a blanket lock down which is a biggest mistake ever. The lives ruined far outnumber the lives saved. Life is not just about existing.

There is no reason why people can't protect themselves by wearing masks, good hygiene, shielding, common sense physical distancing etc. No country can afford to shut down unscathed despite the empty promises. Politicians can promise you the World and deliver little. They just keep kicking the problems into the long grass. Sooner or later, everyone would have to pay for this horrible mistake, and it won't be the politicians.

PS If the virus were as successful as it appears, you and I would have been infected already. The death tolls in the statistics I listed would not have been so low.

The infections numbers cannot be accurate - but countries with more than 4,000 recorded infections per million seem to have herd immunity - and are able to life restrictions.

It seems that only in 100 infected people have been tested - or a large proportion of the population was not susceptible.

Yes you are right, it does look like Herd Immunity is now the only realistic option left. There is little co-operation in the West (by looking at the photos on the beach, at protests etc). People in the West also don't care much about wearing masks. The blanket lock down is a joke if it weren't so tragic. So many lives have been ruined.

It might be a joke is it was not so tragic… but the protests are a good test for “herd immunity”.

We civilians have no control over World politics, even though we would like to think we do. The systems are just as clandestine as one another whether they appear noble or not. There are plenty of conspiracy theories on the net which only add to more confusion. Since we would never know the truth, instead of speculation, best to focus on what we can actually do.

We cannot control others, but there are ways that we can do to keep ourselves safe (e.g. masks, hand hygiene, common sense shielding). By not panicking, the pandemic mass hysteria would not have gone so out of hand. There are many more lives ruined due to the virus rather than from it.

This virus could have been around longer than we think. Just that we didn't take any notice before doesn't mean it didn't exist. Some doctors claimed they had treated patients prior to the news.

In any case, the statistics need to be looked at together with the numbers from other countries. A collection of a large sample should be more representative.

In India and China, the population numbers are high, so the numbers do add up more or less accurate.
