We went out today as although Phil has been able to keep working I’ve not and have only been out to meet a friend once in the lockdown.
We went to Rye which is about 40 minutes from where I live. It was great to have a walk around for an hour, have a change of scenery and give the car a run.
Here are some photos of Rye. It’s a beautiful town.can you see the cat in the window?

Yes, I can see the cat! Your photos are delightful and Rye looks a lovely place. It's the sort of place, very picturesque, that I love to visit. You are so right; a simple car trip, a change of scenery and a little walk in a lovely place. What more could you ask to lighten your spirits.
Havent you been walking anywhere? Didn't you go down The Bay recently? Or are you just fed up with everything at the moment? I felt like that this morning. Then I had a delivery of some plants I ordered. It cheered me up no end as I like gardening and now I'll be looking forward to going in the garden tomorrow planting them. What I find helps me is having something to look forward to.
It was just this morning and it was because I had jobs to get on with that I hadn't wanted to do but decided to do them anyway and felt better once they were out of the way.
Yes I walked down to the bay a couple of Saturday's ago which I enjoyed and went to roath park on Thursday which I enjoyed when I met my friend and had a short walk yesterday and finished off a book.
I'm hoping to have a walk on Monday to bute park as its supposed to be nice then.
I have a mills and boon book that I will be reading tonight for some light entertainment which is something to look forward to.
Have you! I’m right near Canterbury. Which is also lovely. Folkestone has really changed and is quite arty now. Was getting into going there and then the lockdown came. Looking forward to going back there.
Yes it’s lovely there and it was busier than I thought. Was surprised there were some Chinese people and some people that sounded Spanish. It attracts a lot of tourists when they are allowed to come as it’s typically English with the cobblestone streets. Enjoy your evening Jerry 😊
What a lovely Town and I can see the at in the window. It must have felt so good to have a change of scenery. It must have give you a real lift to get out. xx
Eastbourne is nice. I went for a weekend there once with my son. We went to a show in one of the theatres and spent a bit too much time in the ice cream parlour!
Hi Ali, how lovely, and Rye is somewhere I've often thought of spending a weekend. You've really reawakened my wish to do so, once life really eventually gets back to more normality. Sadly it's a bit too far from us for just a day trip. Thanks so much for your pics, and yes I do see the cat, obviously enjoying what's happening through his window view!
You obviously had a lovely time and the weather was kind to you. We have visited Rye quite a few times as we have a daughter who lives just outside Lewes, it's a really nice place to spend a weekend. I love the antiques shops that they have there but it can be a steep climb in places. So glad that you enjoyed yourself.
Somewhat unrelated: I took a trip to England years ago and the only things I took pictures of were cats, and there were plenty! LOL! I figure I can get postcards of the well-known sights taken by professionals. It was fun looking for the cats (although I did see a few historical markers, too--can't hardly avoid them)> Very pretty town--it IS fun to get out and see something different besides the view from your own front window, right?
