Hi everyone, yesterday a evening to forget as some where we live thought they could celebrate VE DAY with a party which sadly went to far and frankly should never had been as we are in lockdown, the music was loud and only saving grace was it finished at eleven well the music did the rest went on till just after midnight . I'm ashamed to know some of these people . What are your thoughts.

Positive Wellbeing During Self-Isolation
I hope Boris doesn't find out

People don't want to be isolated and want their freedom back at any cost. Unfortunately, they can harm people who are elderly, have low resistance, have medical conditions. Did they stop believing the virus is real? I'm not sure these people are selfish, just not thinking or believing in the virus cause they aren't harmed. However, they do not know if they are carriers with no symptoms.
My husband and I want our freedom back but we also don't want to be sick and want to stay alive. We'll continue social distancing and follow the CDC guidelines (masks, washing hands, surfaces, no visitors to the home ...).
They are selfish and should have thought. Think of all the time during the war when people could not do what they wanted and that was 5 to 6 years so how on earth can today’s society not put up with this inconvenience for a few months or even a year.
Its because up until recently this country has been extremely spoilt is why they won't put up with these inconveniences!
What we do is have weekly video calls and talk on the phone which we can put up with for now and accepted that at the present time things like Sunday lunches out and picnics are off and its just how it is although I don't mind picnics in our yard when its nice!
I have a friend who seems to have a selfish family. Planning a huge Mother's Day gathering with adults, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Our entire state of CA isn't supposed to have any gatherings of more than 5. My friend is a high risk, elderly heart patient. I have several serious medical conditions that put me in a high risk category and I'm over 20 year's younger than she is. I'm happy to stay home as the governor and CDC recommend. Just my thoughts.
Oh goodness. A huge celebration - can't they show some restraint and consideration for others - especially the elderly? My goodness gracious.
We did the cats 16th birthday party via video call and my sister in laws 50th that way as well and hopefully no one was upset over this and also dinner party video calls which we will carry on with even after this has eased.
We didn't have any problems here as we had our party at home via zoom which we enjoyed but I do understand how the parties have upset quite a lot of people though especially when you are on your own and feeling low to have that shoved in your face!
There was a quiet socially distanced street party where i live which obviously i could not attend, and i was very touched that my neighbour and his lovely family said that in order to sing we’ll meet again after 9 pm, they were staying in their drive so i could join them in song, rather than going back down into the centre of the street. I had been practicing all afternoon and we had a great rendition, they don't call me Sops for nothing.
We are different generations and i appreciated greatly this families unselfish action.
Take care all, Sopsx
That was a nice thing that they did for you.
Terrible
I am a RAF veteran, age 76, and I applaud the celebration of VE Day, but as you say the parties should not have taken place out in the street, my neighbours held a street party, loud music till 11pm, screaming kids until gone midnight, and they invited a neighbour who attended her husbands funeral on Wednesday(A coronavirus victim) how insensative is that?
I stayed in, had a lager and watched the celebration on the BBC!
Regret this is the selfishness and mentality of some people who don't care and just 'do their thing' never mind what risk it is to the elders, and everyone else! This makes me so cross when I see others really trying by staying indoors, self distancing, only taking exercise when needed, and getting groceries and medical supplies, of which I am one! Wishing you a pleasant day today.
Agee wholeheartedly with the comments on the lack of social distancing. And the inappropriateness of the party
Although the lady who had lost her husband probably didn’t want to attend. Think it was nice to .be asked.people struggle in dealingwith the bereaved.pleasedont think I’m awful for expressing m opinion
Stay safe x
I like to be asked to join things even if I can't go to them!
I think people are risking the health of others and I think it is a selfish act. We are all making sacrifices and it is very unfair that some people think that the rules don't apply to them. We all wish and long for social interaction. xx
Yes its extremely unfair isn't it?
This morning myself and my sister in law had our usual Sunday video call in lieu of meeting up like we did before this kicked off and baby the cat always finishes the call with a meow and answers us with meows!
We said how one day we will do the Sunday meet ups and walks again hopefully very soon.
Sunday isn't the same without her here in person and although I still do the walk its not the same on your own.
Does smidge your cat answer you with meows?
Snap!! Exactly the same here. Screaming and music so loud it could be heard three hundred yards away. My neighbour has been having her child's father visit every day for weeks too. Before I get hate she is not in need of a carer and he is not always delivering food, he stays for hours at a time. All makes me very depressed and reminds me why I prefer animals to 99% of the human race.
You feel like that because its not fair and you have every right to feel like that!
Especially as a blood cancer patient, I'm on my own and not meant to leave my house until there's a vaccine. However I haven't had a shielding letter, my gp and specialist nurse both say they can't help so I'm still having to shop. At least I don't live in a town so the risk should be lower. Thank you for understanding.
I think that, in order for lockdown to have been adhered to, it needed to be stricter. Either we wanted to celebrate VE day and have people break the rules, or all celebration should have been postponed. Would it have been so outrageous to have called the whole thing off and waited another year and celebrated the 76th anniversary? I feel government has only itself to blame through sending out mixed messages. Every other major event has been put on ice. Is it worth reigniting the flame of coronavirus to try to celebrate the 75th anniversary of anything?
I think they should have postponed or at least banned street parties. We could have commemorated without loud music and people breaking all the rules. The world is increasingly becoming more and more selfish mainly due to the lack of proper right and wrong education. When we were young loud music outside was unheard of as it will always offend somebody. Nowadays it’s more well I like it so tough if you don’t, people lack a moral code and compassion towards other people’s feelings hence all the total selfish behaviour on VE Day which has very little to do with what VE Day stands for.
If it had been postponed I think people would enjoy it more due to having to have waited!
Regret this is the selfishness and mentality of some people who don't care and just 'do their thing' never mind what risk it is to the elders, and everyone else! This makes me so cross when I see and hear of people not abiding by the rules. Where we are residing, there is a lot of traffic on the roads; where are they all going? I cannot believe that most of them are going to and from the supermarkets!
These selfish people are putting others at risk. This sort of behaviour is likely to raise the R number. If that becomes the case lockdown measures will increase and go on for much longer not to mention the increased load on the NHS and the mortality rate.
Boris gets up to far more than you. What do you think goes on behind the doors of the House of Commons after business is conducted? No social distancing when they visit each others mansions either. Do not be a delegate, we are all only human and need a diversion from all of this comic tragedy that is being enacted.
