We dont do christmas presents. We make nice food and buy wine. Takes away the stress. 👍
Apologies for starting a discussion about Christmas this early in the year☺I was just so stunned to see it on TV!
The thing is though that if you are someone who makes cards and needs a lot for family, friends and are maybe doing quite a few sales, you need to make a lot, which means starting them very early.
Otherwise it is a mad rush at the end and then they are perhaps not going to be so good. Having said that, I usually start making mine in October, but maybe people are thinking of getting them done earlier than usual because they are not able to go out and about just now.
True.June justs seems so early-earlier than usual. It was just such a surprise seeing it on tv yesterday!
As a card maker myself, I agree. It does take a very long time but on saying that, I will probably give a donation to charity this year instead. They will need all the help they can get. x
True. A good idea.Slight deviation-as I havent been able to get a haircut /colour since Feb Ive decided to donate the money I saved to charity.
I sell quite a lot of my cards and all the money I make goes to charity so I will be doing the same as I always do. I wouldn't like to give up making my cards as it is something that I enjoy.
Only 6 month left x
Seeing as some people put their tree's up in October, it's coming around real soon.😂🎄🎆
Nooooooooooooooooo, not Christmas yet! 🎄
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Crafters will start to make Christmas cards and gifts months in advance ..especially if they have a large family xx
Im sure they do.I make my own cards -and I do send quite a lot but dont usually start that early!
I couldn't agree with you more. I don't particularly like Christmas as I think it's so over the top now and commercialised, it lost it's true meaning many years ago.
Also, I'm not a Wintwr person at all as I do not like the short days.
Christmas this year, when it does come should be about families, friends and helping others.
I feel the same ...it’s all hyped up to be over in a few days .....in fact I dread it xxx
It really is all hyped up and I also dread it. The only thing I can say I like just before Christmas is the Strictly Come Dancing final xx
I agree about how commercialised it has become.I love the old traditions and we still have decorations from when we were children which mean something to us. We have a small family so have a quiet time.
Same here ....I live alone and my son and his hubby come for 2 days then go to the in-laws for 2 days .....and to be honest they are not into Christmas they say it’s a waste of money to buy stuff people don’t really want ....so we just keep it small 3 gifts each usually something we need sounds boarding but last year I got i coffee machine and I wasn’t expecting that but had looked at them for years lol xxx
What a lovely present!Theres only me and hubby at home-we dont have any children so its always a quiet Christmas. We get together with his brothers and their wives for a meal in early Jan -which is lovely as we all live quite a way from each other. One of our sisters in law is a fantastic cook and she loves to host the dinner.
That sounds like a great Christmas to me too xxx
Its lovely to see them all.And the meal is never Christmas dinner. She always makes a selection of desserts-I usually end up having a bit of everything!
I’m lucky as my son buys all the Christmas food shopping ( it’s not a lot for the 3 of us) and then his hubby cooks it ....I’m only in charge of prepping veg lol ....it’s lovely to have it all cooked for me as I have to do it the rest of the time lol .....I’d be like you and have to try everything too lol xxx
It really is and I don't like that. It was really magical when I was little and I loved it and I also enjoyed it when my girls came along. I have 2 granddaughters and make it all happy and exciting for them but am so glad when the day is over. We took our tree down on Boxing Day last year, we'd had enough.
That's really lovely that you still have your old traditional decorations.
My most treasured bauble is a small glass peacock which is well over 60 yrs old. Its very delicate so it has to be handled with great care.It reminds me so much of childhood Christmases.
That sounds really lovely and weren't baubles of our childhood really delicate and very pretty.
I'm sure you must be mistaken. Your meds have gone to your head.
Christmas craft in June? No way!
You need to switch channels instead. 📴
😅😅
Sad though it sounds MadBunny, for crafters who make their own Christmas cards, now is about the time many of us get started.... (me too I'm embarrassed to say 😉), but it does take an awful lot of time to plan, cut, stick and fold. It's a whole industry that's very lucrative, hence Create and Craft getting a head start. But I do understand your horror!😀
Yep I get that. And with lockdown I guess there's been a surge in crafting and a greater demand.Crafting has helped me so much over the years that its great if others can benefit. Just a shock to see it so early.I must admit I dont like to buy new materials too early-just in case I see other stuff that I prefer later😊
It's a really good point about finding something you like better later on, MadBunny. And this does happen with me all the time. Not only for little things either but rival machines which end up doing a better job than the one you have right now! It is a plot to part us from our money, I know, but alas I often fall for it! 😆
So do I☺And Im always telling myself I dont need more stuff........hence the drawers full of card, paper, fabrics etc!
😃👍 Haha, me too. I have industrial amounts!
Ive got a chest of 5 drawers full in the bedroom,a smaller one of 6 drawers in the living room,2 boxes and one folder of stamps in the wardrobe!I wish I had a craft room as its a pain having to use then clear the dining table.Unfortunately the gardens too small to have a shed converted😊
We haven't even reached the summer solstice!
Nope☺
Absolutely Ridiculous i seen it myself yesterday Sign they are running out of ideas Brian
I remember going up to London as a treat no earlier than two weeks before Christmas, when everything started much later!
Hello MadBunny
Yes that is all the rage, Christmas in July! Like we really need another reason to buy, buy.
June a bit early but funnily enough I've just had email from create and craft with new Xmas stuff on so bet that's it
Oh that's weird - I was just thinking today that before we know it, Christmas will be upon us!!!!! I haven't seen my Mum since last Christmas & with Covid19 & other obstacles I won't get to see her until August then next visit will more than likely be Chrissy. I wish she didn't live so far away. Lovely little woman is 91!
Oh bless!Hope she's keeping well.
