Supposed to be going to my stepdaughter for Christmas dinner, she phoned this morning to say an app on her phone told her to isolate for seven days...... can anyone explain, how can this be??????

I am guessing she has been close to someone who tested positive for covid.
You then get a message telling you to isolate but due to data protection you are not told where you may have been in contact.

Hi Don, What a horrible disappointment for you so close to Christmas Day. Please come and join our exclusive club of those whose Christmases have slithered down the drain at the last minute! The Test and Trace App can pick up those people in the vicinity of someone who has tested positive for Covid19 and I expect that's what's happened here.Although it's frustrating, disappointing and upsetting, it's actually a good thing because without this app you could have been at risk of contracting covid19 by having lunch with your stepdaughter who without the app wouldn't have know she had been in close proximity to someone with the disease.
I hope you manage to salvage a little of the remaining Christmas season, despite it all! ๐
Always here Sue...... the music plays on, my wife wanted to go but I was being cautious..... it means I dont have go out in the cold๐
Mine's scuppered too Don and I feel much the same as you do. I know how to be happy at home as do you. I hope you both have a lovely Christmas day!
Nice and positive as usual don have a peaceful night and enjoy your music I'm watching more music channel on TV now it relaxed me before sleep as I'm cutting down on here ๐๐xxx

I can believe boris has cancelled christmas
I wasn't surprised when I heard as I had an idea that was going to happen which is why we never got our hopes up after we had been disappointed back in September over cancelled autumn plans so decided not to plan anything for Christmas to save ourselves the disappointment and how right we were!
Ive just spotted a picture in the online M.E.N pictures of a whole load of passengers at a London train station desperate to leave London - I giv credit to those people in the foreground & some in the background in the picture who are wearing masks -but at t end of the day theyre breaking rules on 2 counts -trying to leave london when told NOT TO & bunching up -no social distancing -I can just imagine that virus with its strain attached wizzing around in the atmosphere at super speed just waiting to land on some unsuspecting rulebreaker
I never get my hopes up too much about anything as it's been one thing after another we just have to believe that fate will bring good to us when it's our time I know we mentioned this before, and I was never over optimistic about vaccine and now mam has to wait longer and with the virus mutating my mind is adjusting to things and I'll find other ways to occupy myself failing all that I'll just come on here 24 7 lol xxx
That's disappointing isn't it when you were looking forward to Christmas dinner out and its not happening at the last minute!
Back in march when this first started I had been due to go to see tukanhamun at the saachi gallery one Saturday and on the Thursday was told it wasn't happening and I had been gutted.
Oh dear, doesn't it makes you realise how potent this virus is. I'd say it was lucky she had the app on her phone. Think about it, she wouldn't be aware of the fact she was in close contact to someone who was a carrier so you and your wife could have caught the virus from your daughter. It doesn't bear thinking about. I hope your daughter turns out to be OK.Best wishes to you both.
It's spread rapid through my mam's nebours grand daughters care home now she's got it her grand daughter it's my mam's X nebour and she brought cards down and knocked we spoke to her outside and in the porch mam said she shouldn't have done that but we haven't seen her and her sister who also came for ages theyvlive few doors down we said we see them when got vaccine and we had masks on can't risk it we've come so far ๐xxx
I have been quite good up until now but since yesterdsys news of the virus changing I've become noticeably worried. I'm so sorry the people in your life have caught the virus and hope it doesn't affect them badly. Look after yourself Curly and stay safe. Xxx
Hi I don't really know my mam's nebours grandaughter and as far as I know my mams X nebour hadn't but we were surprised there going to a relations for Xmas there attitude has always been somewhat careless and ignorant to the reality of it it just shows my mam's anxiety is from Self preservation safety mechanism we were wearing masks before first lockdown xx
Very foolish thing to do. These are the sort of people who endanger other people. Make sure you look after yourselves.X
Sorry to hear this Don, but as others have said better safe than sorry, and I'm sure your stepdaughter will invite you for lunch when circumstances allow โค๏ธ๐๐ ๐
I'm so sorry Don but I'm glad your step daughter had the app and kept you and your wife safe. I do hope your step daughter is ok. We decided a while back to stay out as did Ian and Chantelle. Can't wait to be together but we have to be sensible. It must be really hard for people on their own. I'm sure your step daughter will arrange something when she canLove and hugs to you all Lynne ๐ค xx
I would say that she's been close to someone that has had a positive test for Covid. I'm so sorry Don.๐น
