Quotation for Thursday 28th May 2020

Hi everyone,

My quote today is attributed to Herman Hesse, the Swiss-German poet and writer. It's on the subject of letting go. There's such a lot in life we feel the need to hold on to, but sometimes there comes the point when we need to let go. Negativity, grudges, old-held beliefs that are no longer true for us. Whatever it is there's a feeling of strength in choosing to let things go, than in trying to hang on to them for the wrong reason.

Never was this more apparent to me than when I sat with my sister whose dementia journey had all but reached its end. I could sense that, although she was no longer cognisant of what was going on around her, she was still clinging to life. And as a family, we were clinging on to her, because we loved her and didn't want her to go. But there came an imperceptible moment when we realised that the time had come. And as she left us, came pain but peace for us, because it had been the time to let go.

When we're feeling stressed in life, it's worth looking at what's going on within it, and deciding what you can allow yourself to let go of. Anyway here's what Herman Hesse said.

"Some of us think holding on makes us strong; but sometimes it is letting go".

Hope everyone enjoys their day today in whatever way they can. Take care.🙏

I'm sorry for the loss of your sister. Dementia is a cruel disease.

I think we all have things that we need to release and let go 💚

I'm so sorry you lost your sister to such a cruel disease but so glad she's now at peace. I hope you have some lovely memories of your sister.

That's a very good quote and true. I had a boss who bullied me for a very long time and eventually I left the job in 2017. It's taken me quite a long time but I've now got to the stage where I don't even think or worry about it anymore as there is no point, I want to enjoy my life without harking back to the past.

I hope you have a good day.

Take care and stay safe.

Alicia :)

Hi

I'm so sorry for the sad loss of your sister. It is so hard to let go. Someone I know whose wife has dementia said it's as though you lose them twice. Thinking of you. Lots of love Lynne xxxx ❤️🤗🌈💜

Sorry about your sister. I lost my Gran to the same cruel disease. It is difficult to let go, but we know there comes a time when it feels right to do this and move on with our memories. Then we can reflect with happiness in our hearts as we remember. have a lovely day. xx
