I saw this poem by Spike Milligan recently and I think its lovely. So thought I'd pass it on ๐Ÿ˜†

Smiling is infectious

You can catch it like the flu

When someone smiled at me today

I started smiling too

I walked around the corner

And someone saw me grin

When he smiled I realised

I had passed it on to him

I thought about the smile

And then realised its worth

A single smile like mine

Could travel round the earth

So if you feel a smile begin

Donโ€™t leave it undetected

Start an epidemic

And get the world infected!

Yes itโ€™s true. I always say hello and smile to people. Especially older people as I might be the only person who smiles at them all day.

Do you mind if I copy it for another site?

Lovely Ali.... I'd forgotten that one. Spike Milligan's wit was brilliant! We could all do with remembering this poem!

I try to be infectious that way every time I go out; and it does seem to work, at least where I live!

When my son was nine, he learnt that poem off by heart and said it at his school end of year open day. He did various hand movements to illustrate the words during the poem and everyone seemed to like hearing it. I felt so proud of him. Mind you, I still feel proud of him and he is in his thirties now. Hope you all have a good smiley day today.

Thatโ€™s great and I love that my post has extra special meaning for you. I think itโ€™s hard not to see our grown sons as the boys they once were. You have a smiley day too x

I Have 'This' on a Laminated A4 Sheet, with a grinning cat along side. I bought it in a Friend's shop, some years ago.

"One day I saw a little worm,

All wiggling on his belly,

I wonder if he would like to come inside,

and see what's on the telly."

Also Spike Milligan.

A Similar vien, but can you guess the Author?

"Mother Had a 'Flit' gun,

It wasn't devoid of charm,

A bit of 'Flit' flew out of it,

The Rest flew up her arm."

One given, to me, many years ago... Author unknown-

"Love wasn't put in the Heart to stay,

Love isn't Love, until you give it away."

One in a Friend's loo, many years back now-

Today is the 'Tomorrow', you worried about Yesterday.

One at a Resturant, again some years back-

"If you 'Sprinkle', when you Tinkle,

Be a 'Sweetie', wipe the Seatie."

One written in a Toilet-

"The Painter's work is all in vein,

The Sh-thouse Poet strikes again."

One from chilhood, again Author unknown.

"Fuzzy Wuzzy, wuz a bear,

Fuzzy Wuzzy had no hair,

Fuzzy Wuzzy 'wuzzant' Fuzzy, Wazee."

I think that 'that' is, quite enough Twaddle, from me.... Night everone.

I ALWAYS, at least try, to Greet People... according to my Mother 'I Talk to Anyone, without realising the Dangers'. I have a Strange feeling that if Someone, was carrying a 'Ticking' Briefcase, I might be a 'tad' Suspicious.... unless, of course it is the Local Clock Maker!

Yes I AM 'Friendly', to people, we only have the One Life after all. This evening, about six fifteen, I was walking- with one of our Staff- to the Fish & Chip/ Kebab Shop. I stopped and spoke, to a man, about his Motor Cycle- which was parked on his drive. It was a real Beauty, clearly his Pride & Joy and, as he said himself 'Built For Comfort, Above Speed'. His children had left their Bikes, on the Drive/ Grass, near Dad's. We Spoke for a few minutes, before he went In, and I carried on my Kebab Quest.

I'm, generally speaking, Lucky with my neighbours- everyone seems friendly (and I hope that that continues!). I haven't done it recently, but because we are 'at the end' of the Bus Route, we all seem to meet both 'in the Shop' and 'in the Town'.

In any case, as a Confermed Christian, isn't it- almost- my Duty to try and Spead Some happiness? I can't, or daren't, go to Church at present so, apart from writing for the Church Magazine, what more can I do?

Love to all

AndrewT
