Hey all, I made these candy dishes. Anyone else Crating/Doing Art During Iso? If so, can you post pics? And hope this pic made someone smile. Anyone else have memories of the candy shop as a kid? I used to get those giant jaw-breakers-anyone else?

I think they were also called - gob stoppers! Didnt thdy change colour as you sucked through the layers?
Are you living in UK or America? Your reference to "candy" suggests America. Here in UK we call them sweets.

OMG you are right-that is what they were called! That's amazing. I had almost forgotten. And yes, they did change colors!! I got mine at the candy shops at the mall. They were white, with different color spots all over them, like paint splashes. I am in America. I did not realize that they were called sweets there. Thanks for educating me! Cheers!

We may live in different countries but obviously have the same memories of things past.
It's nice just reflecting on those days. When I was a child the little old fashioned sweet shop was filled with big glass jars of different sweets. There were just a small selection of wrapped chocolate bars such as Cadbury's Fruit and nut, a Mars bar, Milky Lunch or Tiffin. I was able to buy just 2oz of sweets back then which were weighed and placed in a small, triangular bag.
Do you also remember the cardboard tasting flying saucers?

One day, on an outing from my boarding school, at Bournemouth believe it or not, I lost the teacher and bought a black round bubble gum, from a machine outside a sweet shop. Could not start chewing until back in the dormitory that night. Fell asleep when chewing, and somehow, when I woke in the morning, had black stains on the pillow and chewing gum stuck in my longish hair. They cut it out of my hair and had to throw the pillow case away. Had very sore backside for some days and they wrote to my Mother about my behaviour, so lost my pocket money for chocolate privileges.
Wow, SWEETS are trouble, aren't they? What a crazy story! LOL. I have also done that and it sucks. Thanks for sharing! ; )
I love that story, I can imagine the situation so well. Stories from our childhood are great to remember. It seems like yesterday.

My granny used to live over an old fashioned sweet shop in The Grove, Highgate, London. All the walls were shelves and full of those huge glass jars with black screw top lids! Anyone remember those?! I have never since seen such an array of sweets! I used to go and stay with her and when I was dropped off my mum would always say "Lucy, please not too many sweets!" Granny Lucy always ignored her! She always used to have those little choc drops with 100s and 1000s on them cant remember what they were called? We always had a supply of these jars, mum used them for her glazes, she was a potter.
I have made a couple of macramé plant hangers for my daughter, sadly no pics, I went to make myself some only to find I had run out of cord!!!

What good memories you have! How lucky you were to have grandmother (I never had one) who spoiled you! That sweet shop sound AMAZING! I have never been to any like that here, mine were always at the mall.
I want to make some macramé hanging pots for my husband. He is a gardener but I have a black thumb, however, do have a crafter's gene. I am always trying to make garden stuff for him. I have seen many pics of them and they are so lovely. If you have any pro tips, I'd like to know! (As it will be my first time) Thanks for your post! ; )
I really feel for you not having had a grandmother, that is so sad. I was really lucky in that I had two, both lovely in different ways. I tell you what I have found to be even better than having a granny is being a granny!! :)))) Maybe you will be or are?! I know you're not supposed to, but I think I love my granddaughter more than my kids!!
I am no pro on macramé I'm afraid!! It was the easiest one on Pinterest I could find and it was REALLY easy! Have a look! Use your craftiness out in the garden, complement your husbands green fingers!

My only daughter will be 18 when I am only 38. I am almost 35 now. She is turning 15 next month. And she is lovely, so yes I will have to watch the boys! Also, my husband has these psychic dreams where she is preggers at 18. His dreams usually come true. So yes it's looking like I will be a granny at 38! Whew! Honestly, I am terrified. Is it like raising a kid all over again? Does it keep ya young? I have a few years to get ready. It's gonna be crazy but I am betting very rewarding. I am glad that hearing being a granny is so much fun. How many grandkids do you have?
I am in FL, where cases are rising. It is crazy here and I know it is everywhere. I hope you have a safe 4th as well! ; )
Try to dissuade her, we both know that's too young!! To be a mother AND for you to be a granny!! It's all lovely! Sorry gotta run , going to my daughter's garden for a very windy cuppa! xx

When I was in junior school back in the 60s there was a small sweet shop en route.It was actually the front of someone's hallway.I remember getting 3d once a week for sweets and it went a long way as they sold lots of different things-quite a few pieces like fruit salad and blackjacks for a penny.
Re crafting:I'm a keen cardmaker so have been making all the birthday cards.I also enjoy cross stitch but I'm not doing any at the moment.I've been crocheting a blanket during iso.It's made up of lots of flowers which are quick to do and I can do them as and when I feel like it.It's going to be a lot of work joining them together but hopefully will be worth it.

Your memories of the sweet shop sound wonderful! As a sugarhead myself, sounds like heaven! You make me want to go back in time and go there!
I used to make cards they are fun. We don't have many family or friends now as we've moved and lost touch with a lot of them so I really now have no one to give them to.
Cross Stitch is beautiful, I do not have the patience though!
I learned how to Crochet once, did not keep it up so I forgot how! But I want to learn again. Your blanket sounds like it will come together beautifully, are you making it for someone or a grandchild perhaps?

Just making it for myself. I don't have any grandchildren but quite a few nephews and nieces and their kids. I moved away from family and friends nearly 40 yrs ago so don't see them so much these days. Yes, I'm very much a sugarhead (I love that word!)- always have been- and can eat a bag of sweets very quickly. Good job I can't go out shopping at the moment!
